ST Coilovers *Review from the Beginning*

Hey Guys i just want to share my review of the brand new ST Coilovers I received last night. I will detail my review from receiving, install and driving( Will post Pics and vids along the way)

****Update****

Installed the STs today. The total install took us 2 hours and 18 minutes with jacks.

****Initial Thoughts****

Drove the car for a bit and handle feels tighter and the ride quality seems very good, not bouncy and not stiff. I will wait for it to settle and go to and alignment. I will take some pictures and hopefully I am get my hands on a Go Pro and take some vids.

***REVIEW***

Ok guys had them on for a couple of days and here is my review

Hardware/ Install- Opened up the box and construction of the product is what is expected, everything bolted up perfectly no issues. Straight forward install and took use about 2 hours to complete. Make sure you torque all bolts down correctly, i used the specs given in the DIY coilover install thread. The only gripe i have is i wish they would have included the allen key like what is included in other KW coils.

Feel- Even with car lowered it takes bumps very well, not harsh at all. I've been taking corners sharper and with more confidence. The ride to me feels perfect for DD not stiff and not bouncy, when i had my Eibachs on it felt a bit floaty for my liking. I do rub a bit when i hit a dip but i expected it, also there is some rub on the front when turning. I will be purchasing some crash bolts and getting an Alignment. I have not heard any clunking thus far as previous ST owners have experienced in their other vehicles. Overall i am very happy with the ride quality, it is way better than i expected form and entry level coilover.

Final Thoughts for now- For under $900 these coils will suit the purpose of DD, if you are looking to really track your car hardcore maybe these will not be right for you. Car feels just as nibble and ride quality surprised me in a good way. I have had these on for four days so if anything changes or i find anything new i will definitely post. I am very happy with my purchase thus far and hope these hold up.

More to come

Nice! Can't wait to get your opinion on it, but these sell unbelievably well for BMW's, Audi's and VW's so hopefully we've got another good kit here for the 86 platform.

Subb'd for interest. These are very cheap "money wise" overall for a basic coil over I'm interested to hear if they're good quality overall for the buck and the thoughts on General street driving in comparison to stock. Ie: bump handling ability, floaty ness and overall thoughts. Anxiously awaiting...

Only issue with these is running a galvanized steel coilover on the eastcoast.

Aren't the coilovers coated?

I can tell you as a fell long islander that there quite a few cars running these on long island for a few years and no rust yet.

They hold up. I frequent a Audi and VW shop and everyone who has run them up here in the NE has not had any issues with the galvanized body. Look new still.

It's coated, but it's good idea to spray a bit more of extra anti-seize before the installation.

I had this on my previous A4, but didn't feel much difference compared to spring/shock combo. Maybe because the car was so heavy.
