@Sojhinn & @jflogerzi

Had the coils installed yesterday @F-T in Gardena, CA (thx much Alex!). He was quick, thorough, knew both the car and the product, had great communication and flexibility. This is a no frills old school shop but for new school cars that delivers. Also recommended an amazing joint to eat at while I waited (The Pan in Gardena).

Initial ride height was about .5" front to back higher than expected. Drove around quite a bit yesterday. They settled overnight and now I'm dropped at 1.4" front and 1.6" rear. New wheels coming after extended stud install. Will post pics after that.

My initial impressions are here, re-posted for convenience.

Thanks both of your generous detailed posts and insights, yesterday I finally upgraded my RS-R SuperDown Springs to RS-R Sports-i Moto Spec Coilovers. Impression? So far, so great. Will add camber or crash bolts and wait 1 week before an alignment. Initial ride height was about .5" above spec, now is almost dead on Moto-spec. Will measure again soon.

For touring
The road comfort is very nice. They do make the car feel like it has a suspension from a more expensive car. Low speed comfort is good, however high speed comfort is greatly improved. Almost no oscillation over infamous L.A. area expansion joints. Planted, assured, and comfortable.

Spirited driving
The stroke improvement is incredible. I live in Southern California where the roads are pretty bad (even on the highways). Long sweeping turns full of bumps and broken pavement that used to unsettle the rear end now feel like they have full traction and I haven't felt the bump stops at all. At speed nothing but firm and in control. I also have noticed a slight handling bias from the previous FR-S oversteer, to the mild BRZ understeer. I'm sure this keeps street drivers quite safe. Will see if it's for me and adjust if necessary using @ultra 's recommend minor front toe out setting.

Track
Impressions after the alignment. @Moto-P When is the next '86 academy?

Damn good boost you are getting with the 1.5 pack you are trying
Ill Fil up with the 94 for a few tanks and try another log, see if that helps

Search around the net (here's one result fromNASIOC), results are generally very positive.

Good to know, I will look into getting some of this to play with.

You won't be dissapointed. Also, don't know if this matters in Canada but it kills the crickets in my car we get in California caused by the ethanol in CA91 pump gas (which is roughly e10)

Question - does our MaP sensor top out at 4.5 lbs of boost? Looking at some older logs right after I installed the 1.5x battery kit it looks like it is peaking at a solid 4.5 lbs which tells me thats the max the sensor reads. Is this true?

I've gotten 4.9 lbs at around 2-3k rpm on one of my logs, so I don't think so

Nice! Ive been enjoying my suspension as well. Its funny I feel the same way about how the ST suspension feels on the big bumps, and the reason why I switched away from the lowering springs.

Im going to vegas this week, so Im getting my alignment done tomorrow.

stock is a 1.5 bar map sensor. this means it should be able to read .5 bar worth of boost.

most I have hit is 4.8 or so.

4.5 with the 1.5 dunno it's very good. The to end is where the 1.5 really helps though.

The OEM Map sensor only reads to about 5 pounds of boost, that equates to about a 1.37 bar map sensor. So it is not truely a 1.5 bar map sensor.

Thanks...looking at some logs from tonight, I actually recorded a 4.79 at 2,835 RPM. The only problem is my AFR at that RPM was 18.03:1...
