I drove the car about 10km home and there wasn't any vibration, so I assumed everything was good. I'm about to go swap lug nuts since I forgot my "tuner" nuts at home. I'll check the bore of the wheels while I'm at it and see what I find online

CarGuy explained it well, it's essentially a ring that allows the wheel to centre onto the hub, just like OEM wheels do.

The reason your friend had the wobble was because the lugs weren't seated properly before tightening.

Star pattern always, tighten a bit at a time and they'll seat well. I still prefer the rings though.

^ This ^ Don't waste your time trying to find rings online unless they are specific to that exact wheel and obviously your bore size, I have bought or should I say have been sold the wrong sizes before and they are tough to match. I have used 10 + sets of rims without and only have issues. He must have had an issue with: a unbalanced tire, warped rim, blown belt, improper torquing or wrong lugs.

I know how to torque, maybe he didnt tho ? I only know that after getting thwm, he didnt have that wobble anymore !

Ditto when I have a set that fits. It's one less thing to worry about when I rotate my wheels at the track.

Just got these in the mail. RCE TARMAC 2. Waiting for rear subframe bushings and Dunlop z2 tires before installing these. Should make quite a bit of difference.

I can make ABS plastic hub rings to custom fit your rims to our hubs
I made a set that were better than my supplied ones for a set of wheels once
You'd be surprised how strong they are and when they fit correctly they will last forever
I also take payment in Quiznos, pizza, wings or nachos
PM me if interested - I'd run one sample first to test fit based on dimensions I take off your wheel with digital calipers

Having said that; what I find frustrating with plastic rings is that they tend to loosen from the wheel and stick the front hub. It's caused by the ring design and the heat from braking on the track I figure. When I rotate wheels I often miss the fact that the front ring is stuck and then I try to mount the rear wheel with the ring still on it over top of the front ring.

One might say that if the front and rear rings were to remain on the hubs that would solve the problem. Technically, yes. But it would potentially cause another problem of the ring getting permanently stuck on the hub and having to break it off to remove it (yes I've had to do this) in order to put the stock wheels back on; for example.

What I'd like is a ring that stays on the wheel regardless of the heat conditions I put them through. I'm not sure it's possible but I'd be very interested in rings that remain with the wheel upon removal.

I've driven a car with this coilover setup, and it handled very well, great spring rates and the damping was fantastic. It just did what you wanted, very neutral on track and did not seem unsettled at any point.

Well, you'd want solid aluminum ones then
For normal dd use plastic should be fine
For my Mille Miglia Spiders they came with a really cheap plastic set of rings - I ended up ordering real aluminum ones that used a clip ring to retain them on the wheel - only ones I've seen like that since though
Someone with a simple lathe could turn you a set if you can't buy them directly from the wheel mfg
