Gazoo / Luck rally car spring rates are 9kg front and 6kg rear.

they are also using exactly what I was thinking of for my simple
and trouble free setup for here Canada:
Bilstein shocks + Eibach springs + camber plate

I'm not impressed with TEIN's products after seeing a set of FLEX coilvers fail after less than 1yr/15k miles of street/auto-x use in my friend's GC Impreza. He spent something like $4-600 rebuilding them and waited two months to get them back, only to have two fail again after less than 10k miles. Not to mention the damping adjustment was a joke. You had the range of "stiff" or "knock-your-fillings-out".

If I get a set of coilovers, I'd prefer something tested on U.S. roads, with a decent warranty and fast turn-around time on rebuilds. It would also be nice if I could pick and choose spring/damper rates.

Never had a set of Teins before and I don't think I will after hearing all these negative opinions. Only coilover set I ever had were some Apexi N1 Pros and they weren't that great either

relax. there used to be a lot of bad opinions about black people (still are i guess) but now one is the leader of the free world. i personally dont think tein makes great products but i think they make a decent product for the price. if you really want to throw money at this thing then just wait and see what the winningest frs runs and just buy that.

Or you could look at the offerings out there and choose the best for your application rather than just buying a label.

Wait for RCE to put together a set, then call them for advice.

+1. Tein coilovers are great for stance and show crowd, but if performance or comfort is a priority, one should look elsewhere. I have H&R coilovers on my current car; they are VERY comfortable, handle well on the street, but they are too soft for serious track use and the ride turns to shit if they are lowered beyond 1.5"; that's OK because they fit the exact application they were meant for.

Choose wisely.

No. One should pick the right parts for the role the car will see.

[u2b]jFlSG9_Ue4A[/u2b]

After this video/record was released there was some controversy over on NASIOC as to how 'stock' this car was. Pulling teeth added a few reveals about this car. Open exhaust, fully retuned ECU, and TEIN rally suspension. Prepped by TEG Sport in the UK (British Rally Champions in 2009 and 2010) which is a TEIN dealer.

However, these are not your entry-level coilovers. http://www.tein.com/products/gr-n.html
http://www.tein.com/price/subaru.html

If you scroll through the pricing you will see some of the Group N setups are over $12k! These are the real deal. And people compete with them. There are contracts and consultations involved as well.

So judging the (often counterfeited) brand on a single budget example (which are pretty much just for the looks) is very, very narrow minded.

With everything, you get what you pay for.

where do you get this stuff? tein makes some good products. of course there are better but its kind of stupid to talk trash on a budget suspension for a budget sports car

Turn down the fan-boy reaction a little, I never said TEIN made poor products, those are YOUR words not mine. But TEIN, with few exemptions, make mostly fashion coilovers; that's not a bad thing, and that is not based off of counterfeits. That doesn't mean they are crap, but that does mean if I was prepping a car for professional road racing or tarmac rallies that TEIN wouldn't be in my top-5 choices.

And Dimman, every suspension manufacturer has a set of customs to attract people to their brand. I'm not discounting TEIN's success at the Isle of Man nor their wins in British and Japanese rallies, but for what we mortals can afford without custom manufacturing, it doesn't change my point.

what you are saying could be said about many brands. im not being a fanboy, it just sounds like you are speaking based on prejudice and dont know what you are talking about. its crazy to complain about a company because they offer cheap products and then when someone points out they have more upscale products you complain that they are expensive

They have professional championships. So not being your top 5 in that field is a pretty irrelevant statement.

More to my point though is that people are making very broad statements about the brand with very limited experience. If people are judging the brand's performance credentials based on the $900 Street Basics that's retarded. Look through their entire range. (You are also not limited to the recommended rates.)

Most people here probably don't even know their rally history.

My opinion is that everything TEIN offers in the budget of most people (under $3k) is crap. I'm glad their $12k+ coil overs are fantastic and win races... they had f**king better at that cost! For street applications under $3k however, there are much better options out there.

They have Dirt and Gymkhana Masters in the under $3k range as well as a Circuit setup in the $4k range. It isn't just $900 and $12000 options although most people who buy I doubt do any more research than 'Tein' and 'price'.

It goes back to the car analogy. Just because there is an F-sport Lexus 200h doesn't mean it has the same purpose and capabilities as an IS-F which again doesn't have those of the LFA.

Saying Lexus makes slow cars because the cheap ones are slow is no different.
