Alright, so I've necro'ed this thread for a reason. I was sort of intrigued with using the Subaru 4 / 2 pots as sort of a "poor mans bbk" since the STI brembos are only reasonable to buy used, and actual bbk's are a lot of money that I can't really justify given my current driving habits. I realize that buying the brembos used isn't such a big deal, and I could rebuild them myself, but I really like *new*. And the 4 / 2 pot set can be found for ~$1000-1100 new.
After doing some poking around, I found a kit by Godspeed that adapts the 4 pot fronts to use a larger, 335x32 mm rotor which is slightly larger than STI / Wilwood / AP racing. ![]() Now, this kit does make the price more in league with some of the other options, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with something like this or knew of alternatives. I would try to develop my own brackets, but testing something like brakes on my own car seems slightly sketchy to me. If anyone else wants to take their life in their hands, I could do the CAD and probably get them machined ![]() Also, in the interest of balance, and preserving bias, a rear kit would be appropriate. I do not see any solution for the rear set, so I emailed Godspeed to ask if they did anything for the 2 pots, but have no answer yet. From googling around, it seems that Godspeed is on various subie forums and talks this kit up being better than the factory brembos. The kit seems to be comprised of a spacer for the caliper to accept the wider rotors, I assume (though do not see in pictures) some kind of bracket to work with the bigger diameter rotors, along with the rotors, and pads and whatnot. He claims the rotors are custom? Obviously this looks like it would only be fiscally reasonable for someone in the UK (maybe). I am interested though because - barring any objections to the integrity of brackets and spacers - it would make a neat kit. Probably not interested in shipping the kit from the UK. Nor rotors every time I need to replace them. But I like the idea. Anyone have any thoughts? Or warnings? Or general "you're a noob / this is a dumb idea / you don't need a bbk" comments?

Is their bracket meant to be used in addition to the 4 pot bracket, or will it replace the 4 pot bracket? If it's in addition, now you're stacking brackets on top of brackets, and that seems sketchy.
Custom rotors means big money every time you need to replace them. I'd get something with parts that are more commercially available, like brembo or AP racing. |

A 2004 STi (5x100) uses 326x30 front and 316x20 rear rotors. I've been considering trying to make brackets to use the OEM calipers with those rotors, but I don't know if they'll clear a 30mm rotor width. AP Racing makes a 332x26 rotor, but they're $$$.

The way Godspeed worked the fronts is a spacer in the caliper itself. In theory, this sort of makes sense, the pistons don't have to travel any further, and the hardware might work. As far as making my own, the spacer for the caliper would be the easy part, and what I'd be lest concerned about breaking. The extended bracket is what I would be worried about, but as long as it has enough near on it it *should* hold up fine.
