I have read a bunch of threads some people say it works fine with no rubbing and others say it will rub. Trying to get a solid answer if this will work or not.
Are those coils or coilovers?

They are not coil overs just lowering springs with the Bilstein shocks. I was reading threads most of the night and some people say they will fit others say they won't fit. I have seen people that have 255/35's on 18x9.5 with just lowering springs on the same note right after reading that people comment that they won't fit without coil overs.

I am worried the people saying they fit are rubbing and not worried about it. I however don't want to rub and want to be able to turn my wheel all the way.

I'm currently on 245/35R18 on coils (Eibach ProKit) and will be mounting 255/35R18 on my wheels tomorrow, and they "should" fit but can let you know for sure.
My wheels are 18x9+35, yours are bit more tucked in with the +40 offset. I have about 3-4mm clearance between the wheel lip and the spring perch.

If my math is correct, your inside lip would be 11mm further in than mine. So, assuming your wheels already fit, you must have way less camber.

What tires are you currently running?
Check your clearances (inner and outer) and just do the math and see if you'll fit. I just use the Tirerack's site for specs and compare.
My new 255 RS3 are 1/2" wider than my 245 Contis, with the tread width almost an inch wider (rounded vs squarer profile). So just a matter of splitting that difference in two and seeing how that affects each side of the wheel.

Currently have the Advan GT 18x9.5 +40 with 245/40 front and 255/35 rear. Would like to get away from the staggered setup so it is easier to rotate tires. I have the K110 Hankook evo V12 tires.

Would like to go 255/35 all the way around if possible but worst case I was going to go 245/35 all the way around if the 255/35 won't fit.

245/35 is a great tire since it matches OEM diameter. I would have stayed with this size if the RS3 had it available, but had to step up to a 255.

Your 245/40 is pretty beefy already, so I would just check the inner clearance (just reach through the wheel) but I suspect you should be okay as it's not a drastic change from what you're running.

If you've got a 1/4" or more available you should be fine. (only 4/10ths wider overall).

Weird question I know..

How about 16x6.5 forester rims with 225/60/16's? (on a BRZ lowered 1")

Just need something temporary and the price can't be beat. May only be using em for a couple weeks until new wheels arrive. Then i'd strip the tires off and put winters on in a better size for the winter. (and sell the 225/60's)

16's from a Forester should work, provided the offset and bolt pattern is correct (pretty sure only STi's are 5x114).

Mostly worried about the 225/60 rubbing fenders. I imagine they are close to 48 or higher offset though

For sure way taller, 2" bigger diameter than stock. But I don't think it will rub and should be okay for short term use. It may just look odd for a few weeks and people may think it's the new BRZ Rally Edition!

I know nothing about tires so would the 245/35 be the best tire to go with out of the options I have it's either 245/35, 245/40 or 255/35?

245/35R18 is the best all-around choice. Matches OEM diameter so gearing will be unaffected.

245/40 is too tall
255/35 is a bit taller but within acceptable range.

If you can check it, not that complicated. Here's a sideview looking at the strut/wheel clearance. Just stick your finger through the wheel and get an idea what the gap is.

This is my wheel gap with my 245/35R18 Conti on 18x9 wheels.

Slick what offset is that wheel?

On another note.. selling my Work wheels for some RPF1's in 17x9 ET35 and planning 245/40 on all corners with Toyo R1R's... What are the chance of that rubbing? I think I read that's ok. A shame I can't get et35's in anything but silver... the ET45's I can get in other colours but then I risk rubbing to the inside... (Just eibach pro-line)

18x9 with a +35 offset.

I love that RPF1 combo, will work well, no rubbing.

Btw, I had my new tires mounted tonight (255/35R18 RS3) and they just fit.

Here's how close they are, but they still clear, and happy to report there is no rubbing.

Will post a pic from the outside shortly.
