Clutch Free Play Adjustment

Hey Guys

I'm back to adjusting the clutch again, soon to remove the return spring to increase stiffness. I was reading through the service manual and it states that we can adjust the pedal by pushing the cruise control switch into the pedal. I have adjusted the pedal to be about even with the brake (by turning the push rod).I have also eliminated 0.2-0.4inches of free play at the top by pushing the cruise control switch in the clutch pedal.

Has anyone else adjusted the free play at the top of the pedal using this method? Should I return the switch back to its original free play amount of about 1.0in?

I'd be careful about adjusting the free play by moving the clutch switch. If you take up too much, the switch will be continually exerting pressure upon the pedal. I think the ideal adjustment still leaves just a bit of the white switch protruding from its cylindrical housing - or, at least, that's how I set mine after performing the grab adjustment here and the spring removal here.

This is good to know as I do have some free play but there is slight pressure against the pedal. Not enough to engage the clutch but enough to move the pedal a few mm's. I think once I remove the spring I can probably go back to full free play. The issue I was having seems to be solved once the spring is removed.
