Can you get it towed to another shop for another estimate?

You guys have me worried they aren't going to replace all of my 10 series extras as they should... I told the guy at the body shop and he kind of just brushed it off and was like yeah yeah it will be as good as new, exactly how it was when you bought it. I'm going to give him a call and make sure he knows. This body shop guarantees their work for life and there aren't many other options as the shop has to be "Allstate" approved to work on the car and get an estimate.
Forgot to address the key fob issue: it was not part of the accident therefore it will not go on the cost of the claim. Someone besides myself WILL be paying for it because they are very expensive and it was lost at some point while the car was in their hands. Not sure how it will be handled but rest assured I'll throw a bf and get a new one free of cost, as I should because they misplaced it.

I'd be very surprised if it was only $700 more to be totaled. Someone isn't doing the math correctly or something somewhere. The value of a 10 series, unless it had like 60k miles, is well more than just under $16,000.

Edit: I dont know. Looks like frame damage to me. I'm no mechanic tho. Damage on the wheel arch and the A pillar. Any body shop will probably try to under estimate so they get the job rather than the car being totaled.

Edit 2: also the 10 series head lights have the LED DRL so make sure they got that as well... probably a different light/part than normal FR-S light.

The estimates are done by VIN, so the actual replacement parts would've been included in the estimate (10 series specific).

I did not go to the doctor after the accident. Though my wrist took the blunt of the impact from the airbag and is still very sore (mild sprain?). I was also wearing a watch and bracelet so I had lacerations and bruises on my wrist after the accident. Also lacerations on my hips from my seatbelt as well as total body soreness yesterday and Sunday. Overall I don't think any pain was worthy of going to a doctor and getting put onto the claim. Note: seatbelt saved my life. I most certainly would have been ejected if I was not wearing it. It also kept my face from connecting with the airbag.

But real talk though, the car will NEVER be the same. The car itself out the lot brand new already has it's rattles and condensation of the tail lights in the back. Fixing that front is going to have rattles in the front. Hopefully no condensation in the headlights, but there are the chances. Just get a new FR-S.

Just my 2cents

THATS WHAT IM SAYING. In either case I'm sick because my car was really close to being totaled but wasn't OR my car is seriously depreciated in value that much WITHOUT the accident?! ... I'm getting an ulcer over this whole thing, honestly.

Considering both headlights will have to be replaced, there's highly unlikely to be any condensation problems. There weren't with the original OEM unit, so why would there be with the replacement OEM unit.

Also, with no engine damage etc. and all the body panels off the front, it's not that complicated a fix. If what they're replacing is mostly cosmetic or basic mechanical (radiator type engine parts), which it looks like then it's really not that bad.

Yeah let me just pull another 30k out of my ass... I wish I had that kind of money. I would love to get a new one, believe me. I don't think the car will ever be the same either, but I do not think that is an option for me now or anytime in the near future. Unless you want to write the check for me? Lol

Short of getting a second opinion I'm not sure there's much you can do if they did get everything on the estimate.

The value seems way off. A 10 Series should be worth a lot more than $16K.

Anyway, there is still a chance they will find more damage as they go.

Look the accident happened. You cannot fix that. Learn from it and become a more defensive driver (I had my share of accidents before 21 as well). It sucks. But you are going to get your car back and you will have the warranty still. Don't do anything drastic like sell the car for a huge loss, and don't stress about the car not driving the same that it used to. For all you know the car will look and drive the same and you can chalk this up to a learning experience and just move on.

So, she's a girl then.

Jokes aside, I now feel bad for her after reading some more, it seems they are low balling the estimate.

This was the direct opposite of defensive driving...she changed lanes into another car lol. The bad part, is if her state laws are anything like mine. Her insurance is responsible for ALL 3 cars.

OP: any discussion regarding a diminished value claim on your car after the repairs? What if you told Allstate that you were going to file a diminished value claim on your car. Would that have any bearing on the $700 needed to total the car? Who knows .... worth a try. Good luck.
