Probably a fair bet its due ecutek tune, ecutek can lock rom and the change structure of rom code to do the map switching and other fancy features, try it on a non ecutek or brzedit tuned rom and should be fine

The PIDs will be different for the various ROMs in our cars.
It is best to lookup the logcfg.txt for the tactrix datalogging for your individual ROM.

As for finding a direct knock counter that would be great.
The engine has two knock sensors. One on each head.
Maybe you could rig a buzzer or something to each of them and then log data while toggling the buzzer on and off. If there is a counter, you should see it incrementing in synch with the buzzer being on.
I doubt this will work as the obd port has a couple of different modes, standard pids can be called with torque but getting things like IAM and FLKC FBKC requires direct reading of ram addreses which i dont believe torque does.

There has to be people on here using these with an ecutek tune. The whole reason I bought this was to monitor oil temps on my boosted car.

If you try your adapter on a stock tuned car and it works then at least you know your adapter works with brz 86, mine works and its just an ElCheapo elm327, im oft tuned though so no locks ect on ecu

I was using the slim elm327 Bluetooth reader with my na EcuTek tune without a problem most of the time using the custom pids for oil and fuel level - so I'm gonna bet its your particular elm adapter. Do you have access to another adapter you can try?

Using on an ecutek tune, no issues here

I thought that is how we were getting the oil temp through the custom PIDs.

The Oil temp worked for me back when I tried the custom PID, but I havent tried it with anything lately since I got the tactrix working.

I suppose I could try it if I felt like taking two steps backwards

Im pretty sure the pid is different to accessing a direct ram address pid is something the manufacturer supplys as part of their obligation to make standard parameters readable by anyone so only certian values are available as pid its also a lot slower pulling pids from ecu maybe twice a second for low number of parameters.

This is fine for temps and say iam but would be way to slow for usefull logging of fast changing engine parameters like fuel trims timing knock like flkc fbkc as these change so fast and can be very short duration

you need about 5 reads a second for good engine parameter logging, with tactrix reading direct ram addresses you will get 20 times as second with about 20 parameters

I might suggest trying a different OBD adapter. Which one are you using?

Torque PID setup for accurate fuel remaining.

PID: 2129
Long name: Fuel Remain (or whatever you want)
Short name: Fuel Remain (or whatever you want)
Minimum Value: 0.0
Maximum Value: 100.0
scale: x1
Unit: Gal
Equation: ((A*13.2)/100)
OBD Header: 7c0

The 0 in 7c0 is a zero not the letter O.
Warning: this is not as accurate with e85. It left me on the side of the road Saturday ha.

To my understanding, ELM327 is only the chipset used in a wide variety of adapters, and there are a lot of Chinese ELM327 clones that may/may not work as well. Knowing the specific model of the adapter you're using may be helpful.

For reference, I've used Torque on my BRZ with the OBDLink LX and also with a Vgate ELM327 clone, and both seem to have worked just fine.

Anyone have an A01C tactrix datalog? Cheers.
