I guess its my fault for thinking anyone on this forum wasn't a trolling keyboard warrior and actually wanted to discuss something…I should have known...
Without a video, can't really tell. Is the car bucking back and forth at all? Do you have a transmission insert or any other modification?

With the insert I got, I get slight rattling at low RPM, but I got this in all my previous cars. I believe it has to do with engine power being more of a "pulse" at lower RPM and its the gear lash or any sort of play in the driveline making noise.

Normal operation IMO

If you've been in "the scene" long enough you know that with cars like these you get all kinds of whining about noise, vibration and harshness because people expect their car they paid "$XX K for" should "NEVER" sound like that.

For example, every Nissan Z owner ever who didn't know what they bought says, "My car goes CLANK when I shift to 2nd" and "My car sounds like ball bearings in a coffee can when I have the clutch in at a light" and you tell them it's normal... Guess what they say? "NO THIS CAN'T BE NORMAL I CAN'T BELIEVE A $35K CAR SHOULD EVER SOUND LIKE THIS."

So, maybe consider qualifying your post a little next time. Unfortunately, you sounded like a clueless n00b so you got the clueless n00b responses. Not really our fault, is it.
First of all I think you're a punk. Secondly, I have heard the rattle myself and it happens with the AC on and while coasting at 20 or less mph to 10 or less. AKA finding a parking spot. With the clutch in and shifting to neutral at very low speeds, I heard something that made me wonder what was going on.

So, Davey, take your insolent attitude and shove it right up that wide and well lubricated ass of yours that has seen many trucker's manufactured erections along this dark and dusty highway.

Coasting and hearing it is not the same as being in gear and hearing it.

If you hear it while coasting, then there is likely something wrong.

I don't even think you understood the point of my post.

If you were to ask this question, you'd get the same kind of responses. "You're lugging the engine." or "It's the throwout bearing" or the clutch or whatever. Would you respond like the OP and act like those kinds of replies are insulting, because we were supposed to assume you have years of experience with performance cars?

Yep. We're all trolling punks because we answered the question he asked.

Sounds a lot like the "Powerfully Built Company Director" syndrome.

I believe that this trans IS a little more noisy than others I have had (Supra, Porsche, TR4, trucks).

It also has a habit of making some clunking sounds that seem to be coming from the diff, and some days are noisier than others. I have convinced myself that those are normal.

One other observation: When my teenage son drives it he can sometimes get the trans to become more noisy than normal. It is probably partially due to me sitting in the pass seat instead of driver's, but I swear that somehow his driving style can get the trans to just make more noise than when I drive it.

Also have you checked the fluid?
I have heard at least one story about a customer that had a noisy trans to find that it had no fluid from the factory....(or at least very little)

When I'm downhill engine braking in 2nd 15 mph or less the trans is pretty noisy at that speed, no other noises going on.

But yeah at low RPM the gear shifter is pretty notchy and the transmission isn't exactly a music box. When it's cold, you can hear the gear shifting making a hollow clunking noise from the outside.

Other than that I don't mind clutch rattle at low speeds. Or the clicking clutch bearing, or other gearbox engagement noises. Though the clunk going into 1st at a stoplight sometimes shakes the whole car, I think it adds character. Then again, the clutch used to honk at me every time I downshifted for awhile. It used to make a nice whistle or whine at certain speeds when it was brand new. 35k miles later it's well broken in and still works tremendously well and hasn't made any noises that are out of the norm.
