Anyone else's 6MT a rattle box at low RPM?

It drives me NUTS!

Wondering if it's just mine or if it's common...

How low?

If you are lugging along in too tall of a gear then yes it will rattle, but if you are in the right gear you shouldn't have any rattling problems. At least I don't...

MokSpeed 05-28-2014 05:27 PM

downshift

Jyn 05-28-2014 05:27 PM

Low RPM, like lugging the engine? Because that's to be expected...

Silver Ignition 05-28-2014 05:38 PM

Low RPM like in any gear with the tach below 2k RPM.

Define rattle box. If I keep my hand on the shift knob, I can feel vibration as to be expected, but I only ever experience palpable lugging/rattling below ~1k rpm.

Never noticed any unusual NVH from the tranny but I'm also almost always >2K rpm.

johnnyfast11 05-28-2014 07:21 PM

when the rpm gets too low you can press on the gas to fix it.

i swear this forum...

Mine has tendency to rattle some at low rpms.. More like ball bearings
In a can type of sound. I've had this in my last couple of cars too with a
T56 and a T6060.. Seems quite normal.
It's mainly noticeable when warm as the fluid thins out.. I don't get it at all
when just starting out cold. Not to worry..
Minimal insulation and being up close and personal gives you all the melodious mechanical sounds..

lol the trolls.

I don't believe a car that I paid $30k for should EVER sound like that at ANY RPM.

And by rattle box I don't mean a feeling I mean the sound of marbles in a dryer. Mainly rolling through a stop sign between 5 and 15mph in 2nd gear.

liewyel 05-28-2014 08:59 PM

Most if not all manual cars do exactly the same thing if in the low end of the rpm range...

These cars have a rod actuated shifter.. You tend to get a more vibration with those, but on the plus side I think they make you feel more connected to the car and you get more feel.

Mandy 05-28-2014 09:34 PM

I think he's talking about the flywheel rattle. Not the engine lugging.
