MiniVCI and Global Techstream

Anyone messing around with GlobalTechStream and the MiniVCI cable? I've got it all setup and done a few GenericOBDII scans on my older car (Nissan), but haven't had the guts yet to plug it into my brand new under garantee GT86... I've heard the dealer can detect it's been plugged up and break the warranty. Anyone know anything about this?

I use the minivci cable with techstream. I have changed options with it and
Used the diagnostics.
The dealer can't detect you using it unless you modify and save ECM code.
There are several options on the car you can modify. A very useful tool.

I have it. Changed my DRL setting, lock/unlock settings, all the annoying alarm settings. It's the same software THEY use. So...I highly doubt they could void your warranty.

Yes, the DRLs can be turned off.

U can ask your dealer.. Some will do it for free.. I called an asked a local
Dealer here and they wanted 75 dollars to change the options.
So I bought the cable for $30 and DL the software here for free..
Installed on my win7 laptop and made the changes. It also has diagnostic functions and allows you to monitor the system temperatures and other operating specs. Very useful tool.

Exactly why I purchased mine. Some people have even lucky and their dealer did it for free. Mine wanted to charge and say they couldn't turn off certain features due to safety.

Here's the one I've got.... nice thing is that it comes with the drivers and the GTS software, so you're all set to go:

I got mine from amazon. Actually came with drivers and the techstream copy for 30 bucks. But...I won't recommend it to anyone, for the simple fact the drivers are for XP. And it was a PITA to work around it to install on W7

In my 86 (not sure if it's JDM or European spec) there is no option to turn off the DRL LEDs in Techstream.

But you can do so manually by pulling out the DRL relay in the fuse box under the hood. DRL will no longer function, but the LED strip will still light up when you have your parking lights or headlights on. Just pop the relay back in if you want it to work again.

TPMS is an interisting one.... it seems to be a standard in USA FRS and not available at all in GT86 europe, whereas for most other things the european version seems to have more standard equipment (electric fold mirrors, auto headlights, dual A/C, plastic underpanels, trunc trim, .... but is much higher priced, but therefore less noobs with them, so I don't think we'll get the Honda Civic symptom you're on about in the US)
