Yeah, this is my first vehicle that i'll be doing the oil changes myself and wanted to gather as much information as possible so I dont mess anything up. I heard with Motul 8100 eco-lite, you can go up to 5k or 7500k for an oil change. Know if any if that info is true? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

@slizoth You left one MAJOR brand out...Eneos. That's what I use. Eneos 0W-20 SUSTINA.
Just drove out to Virginia from NY roughly ~330 miles. I got 34.9 MPG. I really like the way this oil holds up and the great reviews. Only oil my 86 will be getting for the rest of its days. P.S.- I voted store brand ...there was no other option.

I have used Kendall GT-1 Synthetic Blend 0W20 and it is an excellent product. There is something about the Titanium. It runs quiet, smooth and peppy. The blend and the syn have identical numbers, although the full syn is no doubt capable of extended OCI's over the blend. The blend is $4/qt at the distributor. It may be that the blend, with this price, this viscosity, and short OCI's with a factory filter and a regular dose of SI-1 type product, is a good choice for your maintenance plan.

I've tried Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w20 and liked it. Recently switched to Pennzoil Platinum PurePlus and love it. If you've seen the world record Hennessy Venom GT they use that oil. So far so good, my engine seems to be happy.

Prob am posting in the wrong thread, but it doesnt make sense to start another thread for my silly question.
Google has told mr its ok to mix different brands and/or weights of engine oils. But which would be "safer" A: Mixing same brand but different viscosity (5w30 + 5w40) Or B: Mixing same viscosity (5w30) of different brands (Liqui moly + Amsoil) Getting an oil cooler installed and installation instructions mention to top up, but i cant find the same oil in 1L bottles..... Oil is almost brand new and it would seem a shame to waste it. A or B?? |

Amsoil Signature Series 100% Synthetic (ASMQT) 0W-20
Im big on amsoil products, found out about the company a few years ago, and ran their oil in my TDI, it ran smoother, quieter, and reduced that diesel knock to near nonexistence, its on the more expensive side i think, but its very good quality oil and worth every penny to me, I use their transmission fluid and diff fluid, and i think theyre both are awesome products as well |
