So that extra $300 in oil changes for a $25,000 car makes you want the FR-S over the BRZ? This is just more of people trying to justify the emotional decision they've already made. The prices are so similar that it just comes down to your own tastes. Let's just agree that they are all nice cars for what you pay.

Closer to does not equal "equals". Besides the 300 is just oil changes, I'm not sure what other maintenance is required. Oil filters, cabin filters, tire rotations. The BRZ manual is public we could just look it up. My point is simply it could end up being several hundred dollars.

That's why I'm leaning towards the FR-S; because of the ability to buy the car w/out having to pay for the extra stuff that I don't want.

Then why in the world pick $2000 of all numbers? Why not think it through and pick a more appropriate number that would represent the truth? |

If you are waiting, you will probably be able to haggle the BRZ close to the FRS price if you give it 6-9 months. But if you like the looks of the FRS more or just Toyota that is fine to. |

I'm coming from cars that have much higher maintenance costs. I gave an estimate of what I'm used too. After poking around online, the costs aren't much less at least for oil for this car. Even at the extremely low estimates, we are still talking about several hundred dollars just for oil changes included in the price of the FRS. Seems like that should be factored in when people are talking about the "value" one car presents over the other. :happy0180: |

1300 is quite a difference, but arguably worth it. Now if you can close that gap a few hundred dollars, then it's like paying a bit under a thousand for HID and nav, which is a very good deal. Or, if Subaru brings a R-spec over, things could get interesting because the R-spec would end up cheaper than the Scion but have crappier audio, which Americans seem to care about. |

$1000 Scion Military rebate makes this over $2000 cheaper than the BRZ

Has it been confirmed that the FRS will be eligible for that at launch? |

![]() But that is ONLY looking at oil changes and tire rotations, throw in filters and potentially other odds and ends, inspections, etc. over 2 years, that could be one or two hundred more. Now we're talking potentially 400-500 - potentially at least. Good enough for me to say "closer to 2000"

BRZ or 86 exterior with HIDs FRS tach FRS headunit but BRZ speakers (want good sound, but nothing fancy) BRZ Premium seats FRS "dash panel" (not the silver BRZ one) just for the lulz
