$2000- $1300 = $700. $700-$300= $400. Where did the other $400 go?

So that extra $300 in oil changes for a $25,000 car makes you want the FR-S over the BRZ? This is just more of people trying to justify the emotional decision they've already made. The prices are so similar that it just comes down to your own tastes. Let's just agree that they are all nice cars for what you pay.

Well no, my point was that it's a cost which probably shouldn't be ignored in the price of the car. Doesn't hurt to talk about it does it? Seems like the BRZ folk are being more emotional about things then I am.

Closer to does not equal "equals". Besides the 300 is just oil changes, I'm not sure what other maintenance is required. Oil filters, cabin filters, tire rotations. The BRZ manual is public we could just look it up. My point is simply it could end up being several hundred dollars.

Sorry Kiteless, I don't have Facebook. Left it long time ago. I'm glad you're on the same page as me with the FR-S!!! :happy0180:

It's not going to be a full dedicated track vehicle but at the same time I'm not too focused on the luxury items like navigation, HIDs, remote start, alcantara seats.

That's why I'm leaning towards the FR-S; because of the ability to buy the car w/out having to pay for the extra stuff that I don't want.

Then why in the world pick $2000 of all numbers? Why not think it through and pick a more appropriate number that would represent the truth?

If you are waiting, you will probably be able to haggle the BRZ close to the FRS price if you give it 6-9 months. But if you like the looks of the FRS more or just Toyota that is fine to.

Why not talk about it and discuss it though with me? That's the point of the discussion forum isn't it.

I'm coming from cars that have much higher maintenance costs. I gave an estimate of what I'm used too. After poking around online, the costs aren't much less at least for oil for this car. Even at the extremely low estimates, we are still talking about several hundred dollars just for oil changes included in the price of the FRS. Seems like that should be factored in when people are talking about the "value" one car presents over the other.

Yea I think this will be the interesting thing to look out for, how the prices move after a while, and if you can haggle a BRZ below MSRP.

1300 is quite a difference, but arguably worth it. Now if you can close that gap a few hundred dollars, then it's like paying a bit under a thousand for HID and nav, which is a very good deal.

Or, if Subaru brings a R-spec over, things could get interesting because the R-spec would end up cheaper than the Scion but have crappier audio, which Americans seem to care about.

I already tried doing that.

An oil change is like $60-70 at my Subaru dealer for full synthetic oil change. Most people on here will do that themselves. Rotating your tires takes 15min to do yourself. You are definitely not getting $700 worth of maintenance.

As well as Dave.

At best 1 tire rotation, so add 50 more.. so you might be at 230. $1,530 is no where near $2,000, and even $1,600 is closer to $1,300 than it is to $2,000. We could just say "around 1500-1600"..

Of course my car would never see the dealer anyways, even for free maintenance.
You are looking at about ~$300 worth of maintenance over that time period with the oil changes and tire rotations.

Has it been confirmed that the FRS will be eligible for that at launch?

See? The discussion forum concept is working! Yay!

But that is ONLY looking at oil changes and tire rotations, throw in filters and potentially other odds and ends, inspections, etc. over 2 years, that could be one or two hundred more.

Now we're talking potentially 400-500 - potentially at least. Good enough for me to say "closer to 2000"

Best car (to me) would be :
BRZ or 86 exterior with HIDs
FRS tach
FRS headunit but BRZ speakers (want good sound, but nothing fancy)
BRZ Premium seats
FRS "dash panel" (not the silver BRZ one)

just for the lulz
