There was just an election. The candidates where:

A bit confused, sitting on the fence party, who wear yellow.

Looks like the rich ****s are wearing red this time. Only 35% of people actually voted, mostly brain washed News Paper readers.

Like I said, comparing the cost of specific items in radically different economies is rather futile. We're all very fortunate to be able to afford this car while it's new regardless of location.

On that we can never disagree

Oh and housing prices are for my area in Northern Ireland. If you wanted a house in a prestigious North London area you'd pay up to 8-10 times those prices.

That was the sticker price. It's worth knowing that you can (and should) cross shop between Toyota and subaru dealerships. The lowest my local Toyota place was willing to go on a base model frs was $25k, so it was an easy choice for me. But it all depends on what you want! Best of luck to you with your search

Totally agree, unless you're wedded to one or the other and money doesn't matter or you have some strong preference for the interior of one or the other - the Subaru dealerships can often make buying an FRS look like overspending. The Limited can be had for the MSRP of a base FRS, with that stupid pure price. So, definitely cross shop.

One thing regarding "Price paid" and as you guys are more or less paying $ where I pay GBP in the same amounts...

I went into the dealership hoping to drive a "top down deal", ie.

1. Determine the on-the-road price of the car with any discount available.
2. Add options and trim while discussing the cost of each with the sales guy and any discount
3. Discuss protection, alloy insurance, GAP insurance and discounts
4. Discuss finance for the figure worked out above

However the sales staff threw me a wide ball and landed in with full sets of figures including car, options, GuardX, GAP, alloys insurance, FREE servicing and the bottom line finance figures all in one go.

I found it a lot more awkward to keep running the numbers in my head to stay onto of the deal and this is almost certainly why they did it.

Instead of discount on the car or options, they wanted to put down list price, add everything up and then throw some money into the deposit as discount.

I did send back their first two sets of figures and only after the sales manager asked me "What he needed to do to get my business today", did HE come forward with a much better deal that suited me. Red, Fabric, very few add-ons or options, FREE servicing and GAP insurance, with close to a total of 3,000 toyota deposit injection... I signed.

Just be careful and stick to your guns. They do this for a living. They know what they are doing. It doesn't matter if you think you know what you are doing, they will throw you wide balls and distract you, just STAND YOUR GROUND.

Oh and always have other options and use them sparingly, not threateningly, to make the sales person aware that you can still, in all seriousness, walk away.

2013 FRS, no options. Paid $22,200 plus TT&L (3% sales tax in NC plus $35 for the Title fees). Ended up being roughly $3,400 under MSRP/Window Sticker.

With the '15s coming out soon, some (hardly any) Dealers are really willing to drop the price on the 13's. I had to buy out of state to find one close to this price. Every other Dealer seemed to be around $23,500 at the lowest on a '13.

10 Series for $22.5k after military and finance rebates. Too good of a deal to pass up. The dealer in Yakima still had a base model for under $21k.

Im having a helluva time finding a dealer that will work with me... i've contacted 5 dealers, been to three of them in person, and every one of them has let me walk when i said i wont pay the pure price on the car.

Does anyone have a dealer they would suggest in Upstate, SC or Western, NC or North East Georgia?

Key thing! Never disclose what you're comfortable paying. Giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming you can afford this car and you have a stable career, all they need is your credit score (they can work with an estimate), how long you want your payment to be (3,4,5,6 years etc), and how much you want to put down and they should be able to give you a really close estimate on what you should be paying. Keep in mind if your credit score is significantly lower than your estimate, it will affect the outcome. If any dealership gives you a hard time with numbers, just go to another. I gave my dealership those 3 things over email and I got all the numbers I wanted before they even had my full name and cell phone number. Didn't want them harassing me so I made sure I got what I wanted before I gave them more info.

If you are considering the BRZ and you're not confident in your negotiating skills, USE COSTCO. People don't realize they have an PRENEGOTIATED price for everything including accessories/warranty that is UNDER the sticker value. My roommate got his 2014 WRX hatch for $200 under the sticker price and they didn't even check to confirm if he was a Costco member. Last time I checked, Costco didn't have a deal with Scion.

Also keep in mind all the sticker numbers you see are without TTL. Not sure how Florida is, but out here in CA, I'd say it's about 8-10% more for TTL.

Lol i noticed I trailed off OP question but OTD price varies depending on sticker price/negotiating skills/region.
Oh...another whiteout monogram in Irvine. See you on the streets one day.

Don't ignore the used market. I picked up my mostly loaded* 13 frs with 7500 miles on it (4 months of ownership) late december of 2013 for $20,500 plus ttt, I know others have gotten better deals.

If you are buying out of state do your homework. GA recently changed it's laws on automotive sales tax and registration fees. We dropped sales tax completely but replaced it with a 7.5% registration fee. Screws us on our for sale by owner market, and out of state purchases. If we buy out of state we have to pay local sales tax, then our full sales tax replacement when we register. But buying in Ga and registering outside might let you skip out on sales tax completely, but I'm not sure.

and because I can't help myself
80% tax on everything you earn/spend over 18k. That doesn't exactly sound like free healthcare/education to me.
