It probably didn't help that the console for North America/Canada was able to read burned games factory right out of the box lol. It was originally installed as a "backup game" feature. Little did they know people wouldn't only back their games up but sell copies of them for 50 cents a pop to people. Nonetheless, this console will always be my favorite. So many good memories and so many great titles. Poor Sonic is now just the whored out video game industry version of Nicholas Cage.

Very interesting! I just started playing EVE Online less than a week ago and I cannot figure out how I am supposed to figure out what I want to do later in the game.

Anyone going to pick up Transistor? (PS4 and PC) It just came out yesterday and it is from the same company that did Bastion. Should be great. I gotta finish up Child of Light before I pick it up a midst playing ESO with my wife and my new EVE Online addiction... life is full of choices...

We can make another thread (or just post in the PC Gamers thread) about EVE, but feel free to hit me up if you've got any questions, I'd be glad to help. The learning curve is insane, but there's a LOT to learn so if you're into it, you just found your new time sink, lol. I've been playing for 4 years, some on/off.

As far as "where to go", you can do whatever you want, really. You can troll around and screw with people in low sec, do highsec stuff like trade, missions, manufacturing, you can get into exploration and wormholes, go straight out to nullsec and see what happens... You can also add the recruiting channel and look for player corps willing to add new players.

The easiest thing to start however, is to find a NPC corporation in your faction that specializes in what you're interested in (I can help you out here if you like) and do missions for that corp. Build standings and eventually gain access to higher level agents, which provide better missions.

For the first 30 days, you're automatically added to the rookie chat channel, so use it, they're used to every possible noob question. Also add the help channel, which will be a huge help as a new player. The help channel is (usually) very helpful and moderated to keep it from becoming an off-topic grenade.

EVE is always player vs player (PVP), so even if you're flying solo or running missions for an NPC corp in the middle of nowhere, a player can still scan you down and mess with you. Knowing the rules of engagement can mean the difference between trolling a troll, or firing a shot and having Concord instapop your ship.

The real meat of the game is player corporations, so you'll probably end up in one eventually. Just pick one that suits your interests with like-minded players and you'll have a blast. Also, don't fly anything you can't afford to lose. Expect to get attacked and blown up at any moment, and the game is suddenly much more enjoyable.


BTW- the main in-game protest happened in Jita at the Navy Assembly Plant, it's a MAJOR trade hub (kinda like that region's Super Walmart) and the monument outside was attacked for days by hundreds (or thousands) of players. The monument couldn't actually take damage, but CCP changed the model to make it looked ruined after the protests. The trashed monument is the end result and will stand as a testament to the player feedback.

I would but unfortunately I've since sold my gaming desktop. Don't have as much free time as I used to and the free time I do have I'd rather spend on my FR-S.

Who's getting Watch Dogs next week and for what system?

I'm obviously going X1, haven't played a game on the system in like a month so I'm pumped!

I actually had a hard time deciding between PC and PS4.

I read that WD for the PS4 took a pretty big hit to graphics in order to meet gameplay goals or something. I've seen older comparisons that look similar with PC having much better AA and better overall image quality, but I'd like to see something more current. If probably go for the PC version, but if the PS4 version is really close, I might just go that route.

All the console versions apparently look much worse than what was originally shown at E3.

I'm not too concerned about it, some games look better than others, as long as they're fun that's all that really matters.

If I end up picking up Watch Dogs it'll be for PS4. Lower resolution than PC, sure, but it works better for me for now since it's much harder to hold the baby and play games at the computer than plop him with me on the couch.

Already been confirmed that PS4 graphics = High PC settings, and I don't think I could support Ultra settings right now anyway.
