No place to store those in an apartment, lol. I definitely want those though.

+1 more for the harbor freight low profile jack. 23.5" of lifting ability, combined with their 6T jack stands, gives plenty of room to work under the car.

My ghetto solution to the 5AD kit and being fairly low. Home Depot, got the discount wood marked purple, spent a few bucks and I just drive up on the blocks and it clears enough for me to get my low profile jack under! Jackpot.

I have the harbor freight 2.5 ton low profile steel one. I didn't see it the last time I was there so it may be discontinued. It goes very, very high if you need it to and it's super low profile.

I don't ever leave a car up on a jack so I don't worry too much about the jack failing.

My dad had one when I was a kid that started to sag under weight (it would go up when unloaded but about halfway up with a car on it it'd stall out). I opened up the setscrew on the fluid canister, filled it up with an old bottle of brake fluid I found in the garage (probably not the best, but I was 16... It was OLD. Like, completely coated in dust). As far as I know it's working to this day.

Cheers
Nathan

I have 4 of these and they are worth every penny:
http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...8558_200358558

Most other jackstands will damage the pinch weld, but these have a large rubber pad that will protect the seam and paint from any damage.

I also highly recommend getting this low profile floor jack from harbor freight.

The low profile and long reach make it easy to work on lowered cars.

If you get that jack, I also recommend getting this: http://amzn.com/B000NSMXPY

It fits in the jack cup perfectly and will protect the lifting point from damage.

I already considered this item, as it would be awesome to use. Sadly the jacking points on the brz/fr-s are about 60 inches apart, which is outside the range of the larger quickjack bl-5000 which is about 50 inches.

I use an Arcan-XL2T. It's a service jack for lowered cars. My brother who works at a Mitsubishi dealership turned me onto it. I can get under my lowered brz with no drama. It's a big heavy jack that seems indestructible.

after 2 years of use on my Craftsman, I could only get the jack to go up halfway. Took it to Sears, and they told me they do not warranty the jacks anymore. WTF!!!!

Went and bought the 1.5ton Pittsburgh.
way easier to carry around then my craftsman 2 ton.
