Good Floor Jack Suggestions
Since this is the first car I really care about, I'm going to start doing most of the maintenance myself. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good quality (and not crazy expensive) floor jack that will last?

I'm sure a Craftsman floor jack will work just fine, and priced reasonably well too. Then again, since the car sits quite low, you might need a low profile floor jack. Here's one:

I have a Harbor Freight Aluminum.

The jack you buy is much less important than the jack stands you buy IMO. Whatever you end up buying, make sure your safety equipment is top-notch.

if you plan on adding a front lip or a low aftermarket bodykit, get the flattest jack you can buy..

The Harbor Freight low profile aluminum racing jack is great because it can fit under anything that is above about 3.3 inches off the ground at the jack point. My jack points are 3.7 inches. I bought a 1.5 ton for 59.99 but I do wish that I would have gone for the bigger version. The other nice thing is it only takes 3 pumps to raise the car completely.
Some question Harbor Freight quality and durability but I have had no issues. Plus, if you look at their ads in MT, C&D or R&D you will find a 20% off coupon that you can use when you buy one (even if on sale). |
Yeah, getting high quality jack stands are the most important.

I've been through 4 or 5 hf aluminum jacks now, maybe I use mine more than others. Two of them still work but none are quick pump anymore.
AC Jacks used to be awesome but they shutdown :( |
I had a friend whose aluminum jack just broke after a few months.
I would suggest the other Harbor Freight ones. The Low-Pro Rapid Pump ones are nice. I believe they have it on sale at HF for $80? I haven't heard of any problems with their jack stands, either. |

For home use I also use a pair of ramps. I trust them much much more than a jack and have had good experience with them so far.
