It's a budget Sports car, not a supercar. I will defend the fact that it is a sports car to anybody and everybody who says otherwise. It is the very embodiment of a sports car.

People who think there is something wrong with it aren't necessarily f-ed in the head. They just belong in different cars. There are very few drivers who can really appreciate the 86 for what it is, and for those of us who understand, the car is an absolute godsend.

After spending the past 6 years working on German solar equipment, I bought an FRS and never even looked at anything German. I know they make good stuff, but you pay through the nose for it on nearly any badge coming out of that country. And the maintenance is obnoxiously overpriced.

No regrets here, and no disrespect to German autos. I just don't like being overcharged due to a 'badge' on the front of the car.

You can go German, as long as you have a mechanic who specializes in German cars and is trustworthy. My parents have owned only Japanese or German cars since I can remember, and all four BMW/Mercedes cars that they've had (1980 320i, 1985 300D Turbo Diesel, 1998 E320, 1999 CLK320) were always serviced by the same shop that had very reasonable prices. But yeah, any scenario outside of that will punish your pockets.

At least with the twin you don't need to have a paper bag over your head.

My mom had an 08 BMW 328i and I loved driving that car. Drove so well and was quick, but it always had an issue with the AC no matter what and it got to expensive to fix so she traded it in. German cars are nice, but its to much about the badge now.

The twins are a fun car for sure. At HPDE they are on par with most porches that haven't had lots of mods. I have videos to prove it.

That's funny that you say that... like I said earlier in this thread, my parents had owned four German cars in the past, and the first three all had the AC break at some point during ownership. Only their 1999 CLK320 had a problem-free AC.

So you're saying that Porsche copied Toyota?

The other way around.

So Toyota traveled from 1967 to the future, copied the window of the Cayman S, then went back to 1967 and put it on the 2000GT, then based the GT86 on the 2000GT, which was based on the Cayman S from the future.

It is a well documented fact the Toyota used the Cayman as a performance and design benchmark for the 86.

They failed if that's so, because those cars bear only a superficial resemblance that can be explained away by the fact that they're both sports cars. I'm looking at photos of the interior you claim they "copied," and they don't really look alike beyond the fact that they both have seats, gauges, vents and a gear shift. In fact, once again the GT86 shares more of its interior lines with the 2000GT than with the Cayman.

Not really sure why a Porsche enthusiast feels the need to get on here and troll, though.

Hmmm...afraid they missed the mark on both counts!

This topic was about the 2 cars, did you even read the topic??? For the record, I bought my BRZ long before the Porsche. It is absolute flattery for the 86 to have so successfully and inexpensively mimicked the greatest handling car on the planet at any price.

You should take a look at this:
http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...ayman-s-page-3

And this (Go straight to #9):
http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/f...dont-know.html

I've owned Hondas, DSM, RX-7, Supra Turbo, WRX, Benz, BRZ, Porsche, and a couple of sport bikes and a couple of trucks/SUVs. All of which were worked on/built by me. I am a vehicle enthusiast and not a troll.

The bottom line is that I am stating facts, sir. Not saying, "I think it looks kinda like car X" I wasn't attacking either car, I love both of them. That is why I own both of them. You clearly didn't read my entire sig or any of my other posts or even clearly comprehend what I was saying in the post you commented on.

I had another paragraph typed where this sentence is, but I'm not going to stoop to your level.

Good day.
