I have a gravel driveway that has a small grade and I used the scissor trunk jack to swap my summer on in about 45minutes, no problem.

The only weird thing is that the jack doesn't really engage the pinch with the groove (the groove in the jack is too deep) so it's lifted on the frame adjacent to the pinch, and I got a small transfer of the factory underbody spray onto my jack.

I've used the factory jack a number of times without issue. Obviously use the e-brake and it helps to put the transmission in gear, just in case. I also chock the wheels.

That's by design. The parts of the frame that the factory jack touches are reinforced. If you lift a car using a jack that only engages the pinch weld, you risk potentially bending the pinch weld.

The jack is exactly the same one that came in my 95 impreza. They wear out really quick.

OP: Good rule of thumb with emergency jacks is to throw something on each side of a tire(preferably the one farthest away from the affected tire) in order to prevent rolling. I don't trust emergency jacks or brakes to actually hold a car still.

I've (probably stupidly) used mine to change the tires about 4x since I got the car. No issues except scraping knuckles on asphalt.

I've swapped to winter tires, then to summer tires, then to winter tires, also changed my brake pads, and had at least one flat tire (which involved jacking twice since it was a rear tire.)

So basically I've jacked my car up like 20 times with this jack and haven't had any issues.
