Gen, can you take pictures of the window switch panel and if there is an easy way to insulate around it? I believe that is where most of the rattles are coming from.

Sure thing.

It appears the plastic tabs keep it all held together. I haven't popped them off as I have a feeling I'd break them if I tried. The tabs are very rigid plastic.

Hey just wanted to post a solution I came to for the rattle. I went to the parts house and got a tube of RTV (pretty much gasket in a tube for those of you that don't know what it is). Then I took the door panels off and took out the switch housing. The rattle was coming from the seam of the two separate pieces. I took the RTV and made a line all the way around on both of them and then smoothed it out. Let it dry and re-install. 7 bucks and about 45 minutes (including drying time) and the rattle was gone!

You can use Dynamat or a closed cell foam. Dynamat deadens metal or plastic but the foam is actually the best rattle killer for plastic in my opinion. Get a pack of this for the plastic...

and this for the metal...

For the people who want to use Dynamat, I've heard to use eDead or FatMat for a cheaper alternative.

O boy -_-
Not looking forward to something like this.
*shrugs* taking apart the door and putting foam in should be easy... I mean it sounds easy. Right?
Goodluck guys

Just took the door panel off to fix this. I used 3m tape and put it between all interfaces between the speaker-grill/window switches and the door. Also, the actual switches/box they sit in has some play, so put a little in there as well. Whole process took about 45 minutes. Hardest part for most will be removing door handle inserts, but mine where already off from previous project.

No more rattles, but waiting for a little cooler temps outside to be sure.

Dynamat seems like overkill for this kind of thing. Expensive and adds heaps of weight!

In my old WRX I pulled pretty much every panel off the interior and packed it full of packing foam and speaker box padding.

It's cheap as chips, weighs next to nothing and does a great job!

I'll be doing the same thing in my BRZ as soon as rattles start to arise outside of warranty. I already have a few in my drivers door that I'll be hopefully getting sorted by Subaru soon.

EASY FIX!

Name: Door Rattle Easy Fix.jpg

I literally took duct tape and rolled it a few times, it sandwiches in between the passenger button and the sidewall of its compartment. This got rid of EVERY RATTLE FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR without taking anything apart, the button also loses no functionality, if you roll the duct tape the right thickness it won't pop out and will still allow the button full range of motion. A great basically not noticeable fix to an annoying problem without taking apart the door panels!

I'm having both issues, where the driver's side door rattles until I put my finger on the switch, and the passenger door rattles until I lock the doors.

I pulling the door cards off this weekend and installing both dynamat on the doors and some closed cell foam along the plastic parts that are rattling.

I'll keep this thread updated with results!

I had the dealership look at mine for the rattles and they said some stuff was loose so they tightened it all back up. On the drive home I was so excited to listen to music without a rattle I turned it way up. It was rattling again by the time I pulled in my driveway. Next time I went back I told them, but they said they looked at it and everything was fine, just don't turn the music up too loud. >_>
