You apparently didn't read the part where I pulled over to check it out and shut it down as soon as I suspected it was possible engine damage. Good troll though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mine did that once or twice in the past. Just keep your oil changed on time, make sure your radiator coolant is up to par, and hope it doesn't become an issue. The cars are still new so we don't have all the known issues recorded. If it's going to fail, it's going to fail. I got the 7 year, 100,000 mile warranty on mine, but I wouldn't be surprised if they take care of folks with complete engine failures outside of the 25,000 mile warranties. Don't get paranoid though! Keep faith that mine was an edge case, and the motors are generally sound. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mine has about 39000, identical specs minus the accident. Hope yours gets resolved quickly but this is definitely a concern for higher mileage 86's.
Also I also had a weird metallic noise in 2nd gear around 3500rpms. Never heard the noise before and it wasn't the normal gear shift rattle either. Sounded like it came from the engine bay too.

Oil was changed within the last week by the dealer. Never saw any oil under the car. No noises. Car ran great and purred like a kitten. No warning. No smoke. Clean as a whistle. All service performed in the schedule. No big water puddles lately in this desert :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

At least if the dealer fucked up the oil change, they have no one to blame for it but themselves.

My experience with Subies is they don't particularly like any kind of front end collision regardless of the amount of force because the crank pulley seems to get issues very easily. I've seen several come into the shop with issues related to the crank pulley. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A pickup truck reversed about 10 feet in front of me and damaged the hood, fenders, headlamps, bumper cover, bumper, A/C condenser, fuse block, among other things. A significant portion of the cost was replacing the entire engine harness because the fuse block is sold only together with the harness. I can check the estimate paperwork later to give you more indication. By the way, there is nothing inexpensive about repairing any vehicle regardless of cost especially when you consider labor. Thanks for the info. I thought I read somewhere on Scion's website that the car came with a 25,000 mile warranty. That might have been a maintenance warranty instead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, well there is always a delta between hearing a noise and shutting down. You can't assume every noise is a mechanical issue, otherwise the car would get towed every day because these cars make lots of strange noises when driven. Even the owners manual says to expect some detonation with 91 Octane (which I always thought was bullshit). Again, I shut it down as soon as I determined there was a problem. That's all anyone can do. Your comments have added no value here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
