I've already got the Kartboy shifter, Perrin rear shifter bushing, Kartboy transmission mount insert, and Pentosin in the trans. Hopefully this will make it even better. Just ordered, so maybe by next week I'll have them installed.

For those worried about fluids, theres a plethora of info and benefits on this forum, using either Motul 300, or personally coming from the BMW market, Pentozin MTF2.

I've got the MTF2 in and now the only noises from my tranny is the thud from shifting into gear at a stop. No gear chatter (over the sounds of my headerback) and its smooth as butter to shift (this was before I installed the mtec springs). Hope any of this helps, if not, check out the technical topics on fluids.

OK, I installed the MTEC springs. As a recap, I have the Kartboy shifter, Kartboy trams mount insert, Perrin rear shifter bushing, and Pentosin MTF2 fluid. The springs are definitely worth the $30 or so dollars. They tightened up the 2-3 & 4-5 shifts. Shifting feels like a well oiled bolt action rifle now. Kind of a pain to get to, even on a lift, and it takes a bit of force to break the Loctite loose. Impossible to get a torque wrench on the drivers side, at least it was for me. The passenger's side was accessible with a 1/2-3/8 adapter on a 1 1/16 socket and a universal joint. All in all, much recommended.

I installed the springs after all the possible trans upgrade you could think of. The springs are a good product.

Holy crap... Did anyone have a ton of trouble getting the Detent (passenger side) back in?

I - Cannot - for the life of me - get that bitch threaded and back in. I see no way to get force on the spring to let the threads catch.

Any advice? Driving me nuts.

Also - i'm just working on the garage floor, car on jacks. No lift for me.

I used a rag and isopropyl alcohol to clean the threads off a bit before I tried to put it back in. After that it threaded and went in with no problems.

Did it with a 3" front pipe in place, only issue was the locative in 27mm bolt hole.

After struggling in my back for an hour with rags, steel wool, cleaner, etc. Eventually took a right angle pick and scraped out enough loctite to make it work.

Till that point I was ready to smash everything in the garage with the fury of 10,000 suns.

I left the exhaust on for mine and it worked just fine. The order of parts went: 27mm socket, 1/2" u-joint, 1/2"-3/8" adapter, 2 3/8"x6" extensions, torque wrench. You have to put the socket and small pieces on first, then feed the extensions in on the passenger side of the exhaust pipe. It was easy and it got the torque wrench and ratchet down below the car where I could turn them.

lol. I ended up taking off the front pipe and using a small flathead to scrape out the crap. Then i finally got a good enough angle to clean more out and get er screwed in.

This was my afternoon. Sad.

I would always just take off the front pipe, it takes about 30 seconds and opens things up quite a bit.
