Just picked up my car back from peltier subaru nd the lead tech was there and came to the conclusion throw out bearing is bad. Now that sounds more reasonable to me, the shitty thing is he said its not covered under wwarranty that and a clutch assembly is considered driver wear and tear. Which I dont feel as if I dog the car as a matter of fact I know Idont im too low to do so where I live at telling me its a 1000$ job id rather do the work myself f that. Mine as well upgrade flywheel etc. while im at it?

Shitty deal, try another dealer? There are cases of throwout bearings + clutches failing prematurely on here, it's an easy thing to push off onto the customer.

I agree on doing the work yourself (I would too at >$500 for the labor) but I would hesitate on the upgraded flywheel, while many claim it's heavy it is hard to reproduce OEM tolerances and sturdiness without paying the price. I've heard that it's inappropriate to resurface dual mass flywheels that are in the Toyobaru, personally if I could get a car to get me places I would crack it open and take a look before buying anything, if it's just the bearing you could save yourself a couple hundred dollars.

This is a 'famous' noise. just google brz jars of marble, you can find many such discussions. actually, i am wondering whether somebody does not have this noise. Please speak up if you DO NOT have this noise. If it is like the cricket issue, I shall just live with it. If it is correctable, will see the dealer soon.

The throw out bearing isn't a wear part.

Anyway, best get a good kit (exedy stage 1 or oem kit... Either is fine) & get some friends to help you install the new kit yourself.

Do NOT drive heavily or for long on a worn-out throw out bearing, else you will be in real trouble when it disintegrates on you.

On phone I am. Therefore, if mistakes I make, Frank Oz blame you should.

I have driven the car like 4 times total since the noise came about just wish u could here it bro. Maybe then u could tell me if itd be smart to drive it to work and back this go around(350 miles there, car will sit for 2 weeks then 350 miles back) then clutch kit install will take place soon as I touch down from the j.o.b

Well....I spoke with my dealer again today. They say anything dealing with clutch issues isnt under warranty but he said when I get home from work to bring the car in and they will replace the throwout bearing for 200$.. seems pretty fair considering they were gunna charge me a grand..nd will be under warranty. So Imma go ahead and go with that.

Is it covered by warranty or not? It is not clear from your description. If not,
what a raw deal ...

I am not convinced that it is due to throw out bearing, b/c it will not make this kind of sound when

(1) idling and neutral
(2) in gear, but clutch down.

So it is hard for me to see why this is due to the bearing. Educate me if you can. Thanks.

Bearing replacement=not under warranty.
Me paying 200$ for new bearing replacement=job will be warrantied.

Idling in nuetral clutch out...loud noise in tranny, clutch down regardless in gear or nuetral...no noise other then crickets.

This noise is definitely killing the crickets.
Car is parked and wont move for 2 weeks till I get home.
