The Reference System is excellent!
Looks like the back seats will be down for a while, lol!

Ugh - I received and installed the Reference 400CF but the instructions were for the 400+ series. End result - I didn't hookup the 3.5" dash speakers and umbilical cord. Since I don't have the instructions, can anyone tell me where the umbilical plugs in? I assume its somewhere on the HU, but I want to be sure before I crack it open again.

Can anyone tell me how to hook up this last step?

Thanks.

Here you go, looks like someone else had this same issue after the upgrade and wrote a nice little how-to:

Thanks - for the price you'd think they'd have better and updated directions.

Thought I'd document my experience in the event that anybody has a similar issue.

I installed this system about 4 months ago. Starting several weeks ago, a "noise" issue developed, specifically, a crackling/popping/hissing noise, completely random and intermittent, most audible in the left front tweeter. Strictly confined to the left channel.

The problem was a loose connection. Either: the six pin or ten pin connection to the nav unit, or the 10 pin connection in the rear where the stock amp is bypassed. disconnected all three, reconnected, problem gone.

Same issue here too! Working fine for the past 4 months and all of a sudden today it had no sound. Unplugged and reconnected the amp and it worked again.

I had this problem. Sandy from OEM audio+ helped me diagnose it and even replaced my tweeters. After a long time I realized that it was the connector to the Headunit that was not fully locked in. The harness has no click locking thing so can come loose if you don't shove it in enough.

Just to give my POV, I installed the reference series immediately when it came out and loved it. I swapped to Robust bass profile from the default balanced profile later and felt it was somewhat lacking in fidelity.. It just sounded like a normal sound system with stronger bass. I asked Daniel to swap my profile back to balanced and should be going back on Monday. Does anyone have any experience with switching bass profiles? I'm curious how the "full" profile is but don't want to risk having it be bad and doing a swap again.

Bump. Swapped from Balanced to Robust originally, then swapped from Robust to Full just recently. My memory of Balanced has faded so I can't give an accurate comparison but from Robust to Full I think I made the right decision. On Robust I felt the sound felt slightly artificially boosted and I could hear certain sounds coming from certain directions. On the full it feels more immerse (similar to my memory of the balanced). The bass on full feels slightly lacking at higher speeds when the levels are flat but raising it up 2-3 notches (on the BeSpoke) makes it good for freeway driving.

Props to Daniel and the rest of the OEM Audio+ team for their great customer service and dealing with my indecisive swapping around. The service of swapping is supposedly being discontinued soon btw.

I just got my BRZ, and the sound system is one of the few things I don't really like about it. I was thinking of getting this kit, but I also want to change out the head unit. Would this kit work with, say, a mid- to high-end Kenwood HU?
