car swap day, tomorrow 5/4/2014 (Sun) 11:00AM

What: To drive each others cars to get a feel for different modifications (suspension, turbo, exhaust note, ride comfort etc). I am comfortable letting someone else drive my car for a short distance. You crash it, you buy it.

Who: I don't expect a big turn out, but I hope some pretty stock cars will be there as well, since many of us forgot how it felt to be stock. My car has springs/turbo so you can experience power difference and ride as well. I'm hoping to feel some different suspension set ups.

Where: Cascade Station 11:00AM, Famous Daves BBQ parking lot. I'm planning on eating lunch there once we finish our ride along/car swap. I though circling around that straight away and there is a loop around that cascade road I believe. I'm not expecting to drift other people's car.

Let me know if anyone can make this. I'm still going to go eat famous daves for lunch tomorrow no matter what.

Which FI option are you looking at? If you wanna chat about it, as a consumer, I went through a lot to decide on my current set up. Hit me up anytime.

Brandon showed up while I was eating at Famous Daves, we had a little fun in the NW industrial area

Kind of stuck between a JDL kit, or ptunings kit. Thanks man, I appreciate it. What's setup are you running.

I agree too short of notice. Perhaps at least a week out at least would be nice because I would have joined to let people try my car.

yea it was sort of a last minute thing, should of done a mass text to everyone like darren always does..

I'd like to have everyone get together soon, not just to hard park but do a drive somewhere. The Auto-x in Astoria sounds very tempting as well!

I'm running a local performance shop custom turbo kit (PRE in Portland). Its essentially the Fullblown kit, very similar piping. I think the hot up-pipe design is better than FB since there is a bit more room from the fan, although still very close.

I chose this for several reasons:

Local shop, if something happens, its just one stop rather than E-mailing back and forth with a company 2000 miles away, waiting for parts etc.

Tune, local dyno tune rather than off the shelf E-tuning/maps. Minor tweaks and updates are pain free with local tune shops. Erich's tune has been great so far, he is in his critical part of his career right now, trying to make a new customer base and keeping them happy.

Customization, I like the fact that its hand built at their shop, and fully customized to your liking. Its not a mass produced bolt-on kit, which I personally prefer.

Good price, all inclusive packaging, different stages for different budgets, You can get a non-intercooled, non-BoV'd set up with lower boost if you want to gradually build it up. I personally like the gradual build of a car, rather than rushing and doing everything at once. Its what makes you love your car more. The guys that build it all up pretty quickly, they end up dumping their car to "move on" to new projects. Its a one night stand formula.

Power/Reliability, its on par with all other kits out there, although different dyno, different day, different numbers, but with 8.5psi (conservative) I was able to get a glory pull of 297whp/225wtq. Stock injectors/Fuel pump. My "stage 3" will be upgraded injectors/Fuel pump/fuel scavenging system (there are issues with our fuel tank design)/more cooling modifications. PRE will highly recommend rebuilding the engine if you are going to pursue over 350whp. I suppose this will be "stage full retard mode".
I have been almost DDing this car from end of December, 2013. Its sat out side in that freezing cold snap we had, seattle road trip, hot days, rainy days, windy days, country road spirited driving and parking lot over steer correction sessions. I will most likely be taking it to Auto-X in Astoria on the 17th, so we will find out more.

PRE test/shop car, they have their own shop car that they drag race/fuck around with. The shop car will always be trying to push its limits (I think 12psi 350whp the last I checked). See what breaks, then pass the information to the customers. They are trying to blow it up right now, and the engine is holding up. It almost makes me feel sorry for that FA20, I wonder how many Dyno pulls they've done on that car..

99% of owners will be satisfied with this set-up. Now if you are making a dedicated track/race car, perhaps a bottom mount turbo may be a better cooling solution. But then, a SC is way more popular for track settings.

That sounds pretty awesome, actually. How much did the kit run you? The only thing i wouldn't like about that is i want to install the kit myself.
