Out of curiosity, can you elaborate on this?

2nd gear in my BRZ can be a bit stiff when cold, but it's never been locked out.

Its happened multiple times. Car sits outside overnight and the temp drops to low 40s. I start the car, and drive off to work. I live off of a busy street and need second within 2 minutes of starting the car. Shifting at about 3,500-4,100 rpms and it WONT go into second. It takes multiple tries, clutching in between every attempt.

The car has about 1050 miles on it now, and the issue is getting better as we get further into spring/miles on the ODO. But rest assured I'm bringing the issue up to the dealer when it goes in for its 1000 mile check-up.

That's abnormal. I've never encountered that behavior (15k+ miles, driven below freezing temps throughout two winters). Good luck.

I have not adjusted anything that has anything to do with the drivetrain. I've seen threads about adjusting both the clutch and the reverse lock-out mechanism.

Perhaps I should start a thread in the drivetrain section, so as to not muck up this vs thread.

Had and encounter with an R32 the other day...dang that thing is fast in the corners and accelerates really quick from a stop. Lots of power and mechanical grip. Doesn't mean I'd want to have one - I don't particularly care for German car design philosophy at all...

I have this problem with my 86 aswell. It appears to happen most when either the engine is cold (and hence the gearbox) or early in the morning. I can only assume that maybe the dropped temperatures also play their part on the transmission fluid which may cause it. Also just try pumping the clutch for about a minute and try shifting again
