Shift resistance

I might be crazy, but I noticed when shifting into gears lately in my M/T that it has some resistance shifting into each gear and it's not as smooth as normal. I was wondering if anyone has any pointers or ideas why I would be having this problem. Thanks.

I'm taking mine to the dealership next week to try and get my tranny replaced. It grinds really bad into 5th. If it is actually worrisome, take it to the dealership. People have had tranny rreplacements already.

Or void your warranty and run Motul 300 Gear fluid. People say it really helps.

How many miles on your car .. ??

Does your car's clutch feel the same .. ??

You might check the transmission fluid level.

Maybe change the transmission fluid (with some of the "slicker" stuff).

And why exactly would Motul Gear 300 void the tranny warranty?

It won't just because he says so, it's as specs call. Although it did't do much on my car. Pentosin is next.

humfrz

I have 20k on my car

My clutch feels fine as far as I can tell.

And I plan on checking the fluid today.

Yeah, that's why I was asking. Motul Gear 300 meets the specs in the shop manual...

I'm not super surprised that it didn't do much for you. I've noticed a trend that people in warmer climates tend to like the Gear 300 oil and those in colder ones aren't impressed.

That's b/c those in colder climates still have issues with the viscosity when cold, which Gear 300 doesn't address. Those of us in warmer climates have come to enjoy the smoothness that is kept by Gear 300 once the transmission is warm. Cold climate guys have to put up with cold oil for much longer than we in the warm areas do after the engine is started.

Did you adjust the clutch pedal engagement point? One thing I noticed when I adjusted it to engage close to the floor is that my shifting became notchier (especially into 3rd gear). My guess is that having that extra bit of travel at the bottom of the stroke helps with the timing and allows RPMs to drop a bit more between shifts.

It will not void it at all as you suspected.

I run Pentosin MTF2 did wonders for my tranny shifting and feel.

I was talking to some guys on the facebook group, and some had tranny replacements already. All of them said that the dealership checked for OEM oil int he tranny before accepting the warrenty claim.

Thats all the info I have, is that the dealerships have been checking on tranny change claims.
