TRD Front bumper without stupid license plate?

Hi all,

On all the TRD front bumper kits I find, they all have the stupid license plate frame.

Any way to get one like this?

I mean that looks like a bad photoshop. Is the easiest way just to order and have someone cut?

There used to be a vendor that was working on this, but it never seemed to finish. Custom might be your only choice at this point.

I'd really love a frameless version.

Do you think having the license plate on would block a lot of air for cooling?

Majority of a normal plate is in front of the part of the grill with no holes. Or you could do what I did...I got a piece of aluminum made only large enough to fit the plate holder. It's only about 4" deep and does not cover any part of the grill that actually has holes. Painted it the same black as the TRD piece. Only thing that shows is the 2 small screw heads...and you could probably attach it with double-sided tape if you wanted an even cleaner look. Here is a link to my inspiration for the plate on the bumper...

Once you black out the tag, it pretty much disappears. Does it look as good as actually eliminating the tag holder?.... No.

But is it a lot less trouble to just cover it up?....Yes. And the tag holder area of the TRD front is also an attachment point to help hold and stabilize the center of the piece to the bumper. My $.02 YMMV.

Here's mine...

it looks like its made of 2 pieces so it doesn't look too hard to shave it, cut the top and bottom, sand the face flush, and poly filler where needed. Then you are good to go.

it is well known that aftermarket its usually need work to get to fit properly so its just a little bit more work then usual but it can be done.

The Release Series 1.0 TRD Lip Kit does not have the front license plate. The design is a bit different though.

That "lip" does not surround the main grill like the other one:

My plan: by that front and just delete the license plate out.

The plate doesnt extend into the OPEN part of the grill look at pictures...I mean its the part that makes it ugly...but in Japan front plates are a requirement. So they integrated it to make it work with a front plate...

Now that I know it doesn't actually block airflow. *Maybe* I'll be ok with it. Lol. Since I have a vanity plate it might note be too bad. :-)

Here is another OEM Body Kit released by Toyota Australia for the 86 GT-S without the front license plate.
Not a TRD, but I think still flows well with the car.
