I really hope this is a 2014 model. It feels dumb to buy a car that needs a bunch of upgrades for track use. I would so much prefer to just buy it from the manufacturer with that stuff and have the benefit of all their chassis tuning.

Please get this out soon, Toyota or Subaru. I'll gladly pay for it. $33-$35K seems reasonable to me, if it has great brakes.

250bhp N/A sounds like a screamer. I'm liking it. Move over S2k.

A 25% power boost without turbo on an already high compression 2.0L... I think people are reading way too into this. As others have pointed out, Subaru didn't say 50HP and I don't think they'll make that (certainly not easily) from the factory. They're already getting 100HP/liter out of a NA mass production engine.

On a NA performance motor, I'm going to call close to the GT5 specs, 220 hp and 170 lb-ft, moved up a bit in the rev range (8500ish rev limit). Cams, and reworking the AVCS and intake/header geometry would be all that it needs. (Maybe valve springs for reliability...)

With the gearing it has, this would run with a 1st gen V6 GenCoupe.

(Still think a turbo 1.6L has a chance...)

I/H/E/tune on a 2.0L, you might, might get 20hp tops. but dont count on it. The car is pretty well optimized at 200, any gains will be expensive and require mods that are generally best done by the factory.
Forged internals likely. I'd expect the heads to be almost totally reworked.

Not in this car. WRX/STI to make a return to WRC with a 1.6L though, is more likely.

Is it common to do forged pistons on N/A? I'm much more in tune with factory FI cars as opposed to high output N/A.

Also does anyone know yet about the composition of the factory components? I.E. are the rods/crank/pistons forged, cast, molybdenum coated, etc. This would be on the normal GT 86, FR-S, BRZ.

I believe the S2000 came with a forged rotating assembly, but don't quote me. The fact the rumor says redline only moves to 7500 is conspicuous though: you'd expect retainers, valves, and valve springs to be upgraded so that the engine can spin higher.

They have done a horrid job of information control with this car. I was dead-set on buying one and will cancel my order later this week and wait for the higher performance version in a few years.

I don't think it was information control. Subaru needs to see shipping numbers before going forward with any plans. The recent quadrupling of expected sales accelerated plans and gave the marketing guy the green light to start marketing this.

If it offers any worthwhile performance gains it will be more than $30k.

Seems steep as my 11' STi was $34k for AWD/Turbo . I don't see them being close to same pricing for less power/no boost. But who knows, trade off of lighter Rwd coupe, I would think. We shall wait and see I guess, never the less, Cool stuff in works for Subaru
