You're right, no real speed changes. Did the 370Z seem to have better grip through transitions? More confident traction feel?

John, this is my conclusion as well -- same guy in both cars will be faster in the Z.

Jeff Stuart surprised folks a bit at the San Diego tour with his off-the pace finish in his 370z, given how dominant he has been in LA against some terrific competition, but apparently it was a set of older, low-tread RS3s that did him in on the very loose surface.

On new RS3s at El Toro, he pretty much ran away with CS; I am sure there was some sand in his runs but even so he paxed top 10 against a bunch of folks who were scrapping for every thousandth -- like STX (HUGE CONGRATS itzmike and blkwrxwgn!).

The BRZ felt like it was skating on the surface, and the 370 felt like it was digging in and gripping. The Z's nimbleness through the really tight first slalom stood out to me, as I could actually get the car into a rhythm. The BRZ was just sliding the fronts through there.

Looks like I either need to figure out how to get better low speed steering in the BRZ, or I need to start looking for codrives.

I've decided to leave the car at home for the pro. I scored a codrive in Rick Martinez's C5Z on Rivals instead. Should be fun enough

Considering how much faster I was in the 370, I may not be bothering with running the car in CS anymore.

On Rivals? You're gonna have a bad day. Don't die, thanks. Or you could come and play with the big boys in SSR.

I think it's too early to just give up on the BRZ. As I think we all knew, it's going to be a little course dependent between the two. Not saying that was the case here, but I wouldn't put much stock into a 30 second local non-national style course.

More of the fear mongering and Old Boys Club talk? Hasn't this been proven wrong enough times so far this year?

As much as I love this car, I'm having the tough decision on if I love autocrossing or this car more.

I'm fighting the urge to switch after September, but I don't know to what. If the Z does what I'm 95% sure it will do at Nats (which is run trophy times against BStreet cars) and they don't immediately agree to move it, I don't know what I'm going to switch to, but I will.

I keep having the colossally stupid idea of an FStreet E46 M3 lol But I doubt that will be competitive

I've felt like the car is off pace the whole time, and I've been very consistent with my PAX placing since I finished the prep. It was both refreshing and annoying that I was right in the mix for a top PAX time with the 370Z after just a few runs in the car.

I'm not giving up on the car yet. I will likely codrive in the 370 again on a bigger course on concrete before deciding on a direction for nationals. Fortunately for me, I have plenty of nationally competitive cars available to codrive locally.

+1. A few people gave up last year because of the ZOK/MSR and those have now been moved. Time will tell but I don't think the 370 is an overdog yet.

Maybe go STX with the car? I ran the car RTR for a few events last year and went to STX this year, and IMO it is far more fun and satisfying to drive in STX trim. And the cost to get there from CS is probably less than the transacting cost/effort of trading in and/or obtaining another car (which will then need to be prepped).

But yeah, I wouldn't dismiss it from CS just yet.
