While I was there I learned something cool about trade-ins. If a Toyota dealership makes a better offer on my tC than the Subaru dealers I can use a 'buy bid'. That's where I get the Toyota dealer to give me a written quote, or buy bid. The Subaru dealer will use the value on the buy bid as my trade-in value. It works out like a price match, but they actually sell the car to the Toyota dealer. This allows me shop around my trade-in, and still get the trade-in tax credit. That tax credit should be worth several hundred dollars for my car.
Regardign the 'buy bid', another thing you can do is to find a buyer yourself and let the buyer get the car thru dealership where you are purchasing your BRZ/FRS. that way you can get better trade in value for your car.

For those who placed an order - did you request that they NOT drill holes for the front plates? I personally requested that, and they told me to remind them periodically as we get closer to delivery time and they'll try to intercept the car before a mechanic can get to it, but no guarantees. You might want to do the same...in fact, just tell them not to drill ANY of the BRZs. Not sure why that's so difficult for them to keep track of...

I didn't ask them not to drill holes, but I should. The Toyota dealership drilled holes in my tC's front bumper because I forgot to ask them not too.
I hope the dealer doesn't paint their name on the trunk. I hate when they do that, it's vandalism.

FYI, Scion of Kirkland has started a policy that no Scions will have holes drilled for the front plate unless requested at delivery

But that would be HELPING the competition. See, now you have a reason to pull your BRZ deposit and get an FR-S instead

Wow, this shocked me a little. One of the basic values of Scion is their Pure Pricing and to allow dealers to charge an additional "market adjustment" seems just wrong. In fact, one of the reasons that I plunked down the deposit on the FR-S was because I knew I wouldn't have to worry about negotiating the purchase price. I'm still confident that I won't at Gresham Scion, but to think that others might have to...

Lots of discussions on this here (just do a search for "Pure Pricing"). Bottom line, most dealers charge MSRP, but as long as they advertise and post the price, then charge it to everyone that walks in the door, the dealers can set their own price higher or lower than MSRP.
