Because I just put a light layer of wax over my twin every time I wash it, which is like once a month (now that it's spring).

Yep, I wash it roughly every 1-2 weeks. Adding layers leads to you gettting diminishing returns on wax layers (really 2 is the most I'll do and that's only to ensure coverage). So it ends up not being cost effective, and I'll only wax on the washes that I clay it as well and strip wash it with some all purpose cleaner. Taking proper care of your car will lead to you having to wax less and keeps your paint in better condition.

Depending on the wax you may actually be removing wax by overdoing it, these are usually called cleaner waxes.

What I meant by layer is that I'd wash it and just go over the car with a quick run around with wax. The wax that I use is Mother's California Gold Brazilian Carnauba wax. And the last I checked is that it is not abrasive.

I went the extreme route. I had my entire car covered with xpel film as soon as I got the car. It was expensive but I'm happy with it. I just wash it and don't wax. I did wax once, it's okay to wax the film, but it takes up too much of my free time these days so I don't anymore.

Before I started working 6 days a week, I used to treat my car/bikes fully maybe twice a year, with regular waxing in between.
First I wash my car/bike with carwash soap (or dishwash soap if it has been a while), clay the whole thing, then wax it twice. It's a major pain though.

It's been a year since the film application. When I get the chance, I'll post a thread with pictures and review for the guy who did it.
