you would not know it if you did though... their engagement is smooth and the rate progressive for another inch/inch and half. The fronts actually get engaged quite a bit at any hint of spirited cornering.

when one "feels bumpstops" its when they compress the entire thing going over a big bump, obviously not a scenario at an autocross.

Funny how you almost always believe that everyone else is either wrong or they don't understand. You are posting in a thread full of people who have been there and done that many times, so don't discount their opinions for your own so easily. Either way, you are free to trim them. I don't plan on it, though.

With my MCS CS shocks I ran them with no bump stops initially, which was technically not legal. They have no dust boots, and I used the tie wrap around the shaft trick to find out my shock travel was. According to some "stock" experts (at former national champs) just using the tie wrap would actually qualify as a valid bump stop for stock class...

I would have been on the bump stops on a couple courses, but for the most part I wouldn't have hit them even with the MCS shocks compression set fairly low, which was just a small amount above stock based on shock dyno charts. This was with 245 Hoosiers and the parts where I thought I would be close was in heavy transition courses, and also one where there was a large ridge in the course.

So no this car is not like a Miata where the bump stops are hit all the time and more critical to suspension performance. I would say at least on street tires it would be rare to hit them.

Took my FR-S to her first autoX yesterday. It was the most fun you can have with your cloths on. I have autoxed before but in front wheel drive cars. The difference in fun factor is huge. Rear wheel drive is just sooo much more fun.

I have not seen the results yet but I am a terrible driver, and I was on stock tires.

Still Grinning

That's the best part of auto-x, the fun factor, especially in this car. I can't wait til I can get back out there myself, although my car is in STX class.

I took the BRZ out for the first event (that wasn't in the low 30's, raining and miserable) yesterday. I was very impressed with the car. Only having 215/45/17 (ZIIs), I thought the ass end might get a little squirrely. While it did move, it felt very controllable.

Here's a video of the my best run yesterday. It was good enough for 5th in CS. There were some fast drivers out there. The course was huge and sweeping. Beautiful day as well.

I have a question for some of you guys with koni's installed.

How on earth did you torque the top lug nuts to spec? I can't seem to get them to torque because the shaft has been spinning as well. I was hoping that maybe after I put them on the car it might be easier. Any thoughts or comments on how you guys got it done?

I use craftsman Max Axess sockets and ratchets, they allow you to put another socket through it to hold the anti-rotation feature on the rod. Once its seated and snugged up, you should be able to drive the torque to spec with a standard socket and torque wrench, just watch the rod closely to make sure it doesn't clock with your torque.

The countdown is on to the Wilmington Match Tour at the end of the week. CS looks like it will be a blast... we're up to 13 entries, and I'm looking forward to my first runs on the Wilmington concrete!

Anyone have any plans to grab a bite either friday or saturday night?

That definitely helps. I have the 3/8 max access set. I could've sworn I couldn't get a socket through the pass through hole though. I'll try again this weekend. Hopefully, I'll be able to get it done. I'm trying to finish prep before a test and tune and the national tour. :/
