i am getting this car no matter what... i want a good looking, affordable, light-weight, rwd sports coupe, and there is no other car like this on the market...

$25k for this car is not cheap and i still can't believe it's priced $5,000 more than a tC, but it is what it is...

my last car was an 06 sti and i sold that at the end of 2008 and i haven't driven a single time since due to medical reasons... i am going back to school now, so i need a car for the commute and this car couldn't have come out with a better timing

i would have loved to get back into another suby, but i cannot justify paying $4,000 more for the brz/ltd, so the fr-s is the logical choice for me and i'm sure i will enjoy it as much as i enjoyed my last car...

so with Scion's "Pure Price", they want 25k with TTL would be around 27K OTD plus or minus some?

Yea a 370z can be bought around that much, used. It will get cheaper with time and we'll know more about the FR-S with time as well. We'll see how things go in a few months.

more like $28k... for a car in this price range [$20-25k], sold in CA, add ~$2800 to the msrp you will be paying, which is $24,930...

Pre-ordered one the other day, though has everyone else been putting in custom sold orders (color, trans, options)?

The dealers here seem to be playing what we get is what you get to choose from.....one dealer is even doing $500 non-refundable deposit / MSRP + $1200.

pure price what?

There should have the fifth choice "Wait for Turbo" from either one.

The big elephant in the room here is the "ADMU" that my Subaru dealer and others have said they will be demanding. I accept paying MSRP, but, with the announcement that production will ramp up to 100,000 cars per year, I'd be crazy to pay an additional markup, and I won't. I do expect to pay more for the BRZ, as long as it is in line with the extras that go along with "premium" and Limited" editions. So, if the FR-S will sell at MSRP, and the BRZ won't, I will consider buying the FR-S instead. And that would add the option of buying the orange color Subaru doesn't sell.

Not saying you'd do this but I'd call you crazy for doing that for ANY car, even if they only made 10,000 (or 10) of them. There's just too much choice and too many dealers to hand over extra profit to a dealer just because they ask for it.

MSRP + $1200 will be their pure price.

and I dunno maybe the fact that other models of the same car have it? its not unreasonable

Even the $21.6K prius C 3 has it too...Scion scrimped on standard equipment for the FR-S. I think they were trying to go cheap but they felt like they could get more money off of us in the end.

I would walk away. No way would I spend $25K + $1200 for a FR-S!
