28k OTD is alot more then I expected. You can buy a used 370z for the price and looks and performs better. Should be interesting.

I'm in, but will likely wait until next year to see if they come out with a "Release Series" or if Subaru will release an STi version. Plus it's gonna take at least a year for the aftermarket industry to get "quality" parts on the market. The first year they always rush the product to get something on the market and we end up buying junk.

Either way it's priced appropriately IMO and will sell well.

I'm sorry....honestly, the hell is the obsession with push button starts?

Had a rant...made a meme instead:

Because it is 2012 and people expect certain things that originated in sports cars that are featured in other NON sports cars to be in their brand new sports car

the Altima has it for crying out loud

and I dunno maybe the fact that other models of the same car have it? its not unreasonable

But every little electronic gizmo adds price. As was noted in a different thread, push start doesn't just affect the one button on the dash, it affects other locks, the cost of the key, etc, etc. There's a reason the models of the 86 with this cost more, and part of that is this.

My take on it (and that's all it is) is if I wanted those features I go buy the car that has them. I don't want them, so the FR-S meets my needs. The same with the HIDs and the NAV and the leather seats all the other items in the BRZ.

If the FR-S had all these things, I'd be asking how can I delete them for credit.

GMs OnStar is another example of that. I've owned lots of GM products and am a huge Camaro/Corvette fanboy, but I won't buy a new one because I don't want it and they won't delete it.

Again, just my opinion, your opinion may vary.

I'm pretty sure I'm in, pending the test drive. I broke the price to my wife yesterday, expecting her to say "uhh, no it's too expensive." But to my surprise, she said "oh, that's not much. I thought you were going to say it's $40K."
I guess since her car stickered for $40K she's ok with this!

This. But instead can I delete the entire interior (dash, and steering wheel), all the safety bullshit (I just want a roll cage FFS and good racing seat with harnesses), and also replace all the lights with cheap, lightweight plastic covers? And we can call it even at 18K so I can

Yea, SheWhoMustBeObeyedHawk had the same reaction when we were standing in front of the BRZ at the auto show last weekend. She said, "OK, so how much is it?". I said "around $25,000". Her reply, "That's it? heck yea, get it now!"

Of course it didn't hurt that right before seeing it we were looking at the Camaro ZL1 with a sticker of $55K (my second choice) and a Lamborghini Aventdor with a "if you have to ask" price.

Maybe we can get a discount to $17.5K if we buy 2.

I put a deposit down on an FR-S in January, thinking $25k OTD was reasonable and set that as my own personal limit. With a few upgrades it'd be well under $30k, and then I'd be content for a long time. Now that TTL push the price over $25k I'll keep my WRX a little while longer and put the rest of what I had allotted for a down payment into my 260Z. I'll wait for a Release Series in a more interesting color, check what a used red one is going for at the same time, and get whichever of the two is best for me at the time.

Also, if Subaru really is pricing it at "about $25k", that'll be bad for Scion and their Pure Pricing once initial demand has equalized--we'll be able to talk a BRZ down below FR-S no-haggle prices...

Another also, I think it should be a Toyota. Yes, it's the same car no matter what badge is on it, but Scion is meant to be a gateway drug to get people into a Toyota dealer for their next new car. Where does one go in the Toyota lineup when they graduate from an FR-S? The only non-4-door car they sell is a Yaris... Maybe the FR-S will get so many ladies, your next car will need to be a Toyota Beigemobile, because all the action you've gotten means you now have 4 kids?

Well you have to remember, "about 25k" for the Subaru means 25.5$ MSRP and 26K with destination. Now you are looking at potentially 28K with TTL.

I actually like it's a Scion. It's something unique for the market and I'm all for offering a car with as few options as possible. Personally I think they should offer all three for our market, with the Toyota 86 being the most expensive and just let people decide.
