Talked with Dunlop had them inspected at a good year shop and they are claiming it as defective.

They are giving me 60% money towards a new tire which is not bad I guess. The new tires would be the same ones though. Hmmm so all 4 new tires for about $450 + install.

Not bad considering the tire is $175 on tirerack.

Tremendous customer service and support in my opinion. Nitto told me to eat a **** when my NTO1 tires chunked, so I'll never buy another set again.

Wish Dunlop supported SCCA Contingency more, but its great to hear they at least stand behind the tire if something does go wrong.

Nice. Makes me feel better since I just paid that $175 on tire rack. I figured it was a good price and there was a $50 rebate. Hopefully I don't have any of these issues though!

Yea Honestly I don't know what the issue was but I am getting a new set and I will make sure everything is done exactly the same to figure out what caused it or if it was truely a freak accident.

I did also talk to them one more time and they said I'd pay 15% for the 2 rear ties and like 50% for the fronts so I def come out above in the end.

I wouldn't rule out frost damage either. I don't know how cold it gets in DC, but enduring a lot of freeze/thaw cycles isn't doing the rubber any good, even if you're not driving on them. Awesome that Dunlop stood behind their warranty though.

interesting.....we run those tires on our lemons racer....a 3000lbs car that runs about 8 hours per day with only 225 front and 255 rear tires..they never have chunked & always wear quite even.

My thoughts are the tires were driven at too high hot pressure...since most of the damage is near the center & hard "drag race" launches can cause this too
