You can bet that in Canada you will have the choice of fully loaded or nearly fully loaded and a price to match.

I did some reading on the Toyota Access fiasco. It seems to me that a pure pricing policy is actually allowed across the country so that MSRP is not mis-represented across Canada. IE, in BC the price can be no different then in Ontario. They also can (and have too) sell the car for below what the MSRP is listed for. If they don't they could be accused of "Price Fixing"

That being said, I wouldn't walk into the showroom and expect the keys to a new FR-S without paying the MSRP. The whole argument behind "you have to sell this high demand car to me for cheaper because its the law" is silly. Everyone knows this car is going to be in high demand and I wouldn't blame Toyota for sticking to the MSRP. It is business after all and low supply + high demand = higher price.

They're not being greedy or unlawful. They're just trying to make a buck.

The law has nothing to do with getting it for below MSRP, or forcing a dealer to sell you the car cheaper, quite the opposite. In fact by the law a dealer could sell the car for twice MSRP, if that's what people are willing to pay. The price-fixing law has to do with Toyota telling a dealer they HAVE to sell it for a specific price, or a dealer talking with other competing Scion dealers in the are and having a deal not to sell a car below a specific price, etc. This kind of thing is illegal in Canada.

Basically, in Canada, Toyota cannot tell a dealer what they have to sell the car for, dealers set their own pricing. Whether dealers have a contract with Scion not to sell over MSRP or something similar, I can't comment on, but Pure Price is not something that is done in Canada.
