Need helping choosing a/the rental car.

This summer my family is going to Greece for two weeks.

For once, we want to get a nice rental car.

We brought it down to two choices.

BMW 116i

Alfa Romeo 159 2.2 JTS.

Both cars you can't get in the US. I'm more partial to the Alfa...because it's an Alfa and i have yet to drive one. The BMW is cool but it's still a one series and a diesel.

Here's one more factor.

BMW: 680 euros
Alfa: 870 euros

That's the price for the rental.

I'd take the BMW, Alfas are great to look at and less so to drive or own.

Plus I am a cheap bastard.

Family rented a Citroen turbo diesel when in spain a few years back, the thing ran like hell, and got good mpg, they should have more cars like that in the US, but the emissions won't let them ><

I'd take the bimmer hatch, seems like it would be more livable and convenient.

They're coming. My brother picked up a Passat TDI, that thing even has a damn DCT. It's quite nice, torque is great for an I4.

Last time I was in the UK we rented a Passat Diesel with 6 speed manual, 65MPG Imperial all day long cruising the motorways at 140KM/H...

Alfa.

Even though BMW is cheaper, it's still a lot of money for something that's only marginally different than what you can already drive in the US, whereas the Alfa will be a totally new experience. Plus, just look at it.

Drive the Bimmer, it's better IMHO.

If you want the Alfa experience, go to your local dealer and drive a Dodge:
