So I got my pancake lens out and played with some short depth of field. This is the result:

What lens are you using? Remember that the shallow depth of field is available, but you don't always have to use it!
Too much blur isn't always a good thing (Like the second picture)

Just a few thoughts!

Nice pics but have to ask, do other Hot Lavas have that much peel in the paint or was that area repaired at some point?

Just drove it home. Its too dark in the parking garage to get a half decent picture unfortunately. I'm glad it has absolutely no trouble getting through my building despite being so low. Dealer mounted the plate exactly as I wanted it so I'm all good.

My Raven has a lot of peel, will probably put the sandpaper to it one day soon but I want to drive it for awhile first.

It's a Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM. I was just seeing how drastic an effect I could get. In the second shot, the camera was inches from the car with the aperture wide open.

That's untouched from the factory. Most spots have nothing like the peel on the fender garnish, but even so this angle and lighting is only going to make it seem more extreme than it is. Hard to avoid peel in mass production using spray guns, mechanized or human.

In spots, definitely. Nothing avoids orange peel like dipping, but that uses a ludicrous amount of paint (though it provides excellent rustproofing).

I don't know Canon products very well, but I'm sure that's a great prime lens.
My point was just that sometimes it's nice to have more in focus, rather than less. Bokeh is nice, up to a certain point.

That first picture might've benefited from a smaller aperture - just so the Scion logo is in focus.

But again, that's just my 0.02
