The lighting is bad since it was dark out.

I get oil changes every 5000 miles.

The sound was marbles on the failed start, no pops or anything that I noticed.

Has it been a long time since you started the car or have you been driving it and this all the sudden happened? What caused your battery to die?

I'm inclined to thing you've got a blown motor based on the tiny amount of evidence presented. I hope I'm wrong, for your sake. Good luck!

The car was running fine last time it was driven? how long has it been sitting? What killed the battery?

I don't recognize those bits in the second pic...

For the record, the color of the oil is not a good indication of how used the oil is or if it needs to be changed. This is a pretty common misconception.

I had just driven it and stopped to run an errand; actually to buy a different USB hub for my android stereo that I just installed. I was plugging everything in and testing with the car in Acc mode; which is what I thought killed the battery (it was only a few minutes in Acc mode; but I killed the battery during the install on Saturday).

do you have an aftermarket crank pulley? That's not a connecting rod or main bearing. Not sure if that little piece is a roller bearing or a press-in pin for something.

I have not done crank-pulley yet...they only things that I have directly on the engine are a perrin intake and perrin silicone tube and quick change oil valve.

I called and they told me that they are currently inventorying my aftermarket parts to send to Subaru of America (I assume they mean they are trying to find a way to weasel out of paying for the repair, whatever it may be).

Those pieces look like rod bearings for some reason....

Interested to see the outcome.

word to the wise, never tow directly to a stealership. Bring you car home, reinstall OEM parts.

It doesn't seem like an engine bearing of any sort. As someone said, some sort of press-in type pin.

I'm really leaning towards your quick change oil valve. Looks like a part inside that valve that blew out or something (hence the oil).

Rod bearings are WAY bigger than that. Google image rod bearings and you'll see

It was definitely not the starter solenoid...the sound was way more mechanical...the sound or starting should not of come from the valve...plus only a a quart or so leaked out.
