Does anyone know what the Torque label for IAM or Knock Correction is? Or if it's available as a stock PID / what the custom PID is?

Thanks!

I doubt you can query IAM or KC by elm327, you'll need CAN bus fo 'dat.

The elm327 pulls off the CANBUS I believe. The problem is that those are on a different car specific protocol than everything else. It could be tune specific as well. It's over my head but I have been looking into it for a while.

The ELM327 can definitely talk via CAN - my app uses it that way. And it can also access Toyota-specific ECUs, using Toyota's protocol over CAN. So if you know the specific PIDs, you can definitely get that data via an ELM327. It should be on the engine ECU, and Torque can talk to the engine ECU, so you should be fine.

I might be able to find those PIDs for you, actually. I'll report back.

P.S. About my app (Carista): someone already sent me a report from a BRZ, so... the rest of y'all have been beaten

Toyota. Based on the report I just got from a Subaru BRZ, all the electronics in the car use Toyota's protocol. (actually, I guess it's possible that they respond to both, but I'm not familiar with Subaru's protocol, so I can't check).

I did some research, but couldn't find a knock correction value from the engine ECU. What is IAM?

IAM is Ignition Advance Multiplier I believe. It should be a value from 0.00-1.00

Edit: as far as i know these values have never been recorded using torque. The only way I have access to them is through ecutek my tuning software. It comes through the obdII port.

Hmm, well there's an ignition advance, in degrees (not as a multiplier) at PID 2103. I don't know how to interpret the value, but it's most likely in degrees minus 64... because when the value read from the vehicle is 0, the advance is considered to be -64 deg.

EDIT: if another tool can get it through CAN communication (and it must be doing it over CAN because that's the protocol these cars' engine ECUs use), then it should be obtainable with custom commands... and Torque should be able to run such custom commands (PIDs).

Tactrix (and most certainly others) log IAM by reading the RAM address where it is stored, from what I understand it's not making a request the way you do with ELM327. Take a look at the Ecuflash thread for more info if you want but I don't believe it's relevant to your application unfortunately.

From what I understand it is all on the CANBUS. BUT there are different protocols. Most of what torque uses is the standard PID's that are mandated by the government and are common between all makes. Toyota has their own way to communicate on the CANBUS and uses a different protocol. I'll try to find the name of it and let u know.

So I just bought a Samsung Tab Pro 8.4", but haven't purchased a mount yet as I am still trying to determine the best place to mount it. I only intend to use it mounted when I am auto crossing, tracking, cruising certain twisty roads very spiritedly, or data logging. In my daily driving, it will not be used. I was thinking about getting a universal 8-10" suction cup mount and mounting it on my left side of the dash, in portrait orientation, blocking the left AC vent. It would also be convenient if it was mounted in front of the head unit and AC controls, but I am concerned about my hand potentially slipping off the shift knob and punching my tablet. Most people seem to have used the 7" nexus tablet with pretty good success, the larger size makes it a bit of a tight fit. Any suggestions before I go spend more money?
