Have you tried filling the trunk with some blankets or anything like that? I found running the muffler delete in my GR STI the amount of noise in the cabin was much better with the trunk floor on than off. Wonder if the BRZ would benefit the same way.
It's not as bad with the backseats up but when I have the car loaded with tires (so seats down), it gets much more annoying on the highway

I paid $35 for my custom so I love the value. It's only a real issue on longer trips where the seats are down and I get no break from it. Which realistically is only a half a dozen times a year.

I saw that and was shocked. We've had some hard hits in my car and never any real damage. Just sagging front bumper.

I wonder if you somehow hit the base of the cone, where it's very stiff rubber.

Kido,

Did the rear end become less planted with the exhaust delete? With the track pipe and the trunk stuff out of there, I'm guessing you took off about 35-40 pounds off the rear. Did that unsettle the car at all?

I'm looking to do the Nameless muffled track pipe to take off 20 pounds or so in the back and was just wondering.

I've had an off day once and was hitting cone after cone... first instance was trying to push the limits coming into a slalom - came in too hot to the second cone square on at the very top of 2nd gear. Second instance was in that same slalom (was in a rough, bumpy section of the lot) and the car got unsettled and the back end swung around. I hit 3 cones right behind the driver's side door, at around 40mph. Both just left some cone scuffs and no damage. You just must have just been unlucky

I had a weird one last year too. I got sideways in a top of 2nd gear section and hit a wall of cones sideways with the back tire/quarter of the car at the Milwaukee Match Tour. As I neared the finish, I started hearing a weird noise under hard cornering. Turns out the cone hit my valve stem just right and broke it half way off. Managed to finish the run just as the tire finished going flat. Now I use rubber valve stems instead of aluminum.

Nope, I don't have any dB data. I haven't actually run my car anywhere that has sound monitoring as I got it at the end of the season last year and drove John's car at Nationals.

Interesting... I removed spare tire one time, was very tail happy and spun several times. Never removed it again since...

But then that was on stock tires. Last practice with new Yokohama Neova AD08R, I noticed the rear end stayed glued quite nicely, so will try removing the spare again this weekend and hopefully not start another spin cycle.

I would imagine removing both spare & getting muffler delete will require some kind of front sway bar to bring balance back? Is that how everyone else does it?

I put I a 20 mm adj. bar. With everything out of I find the car well balanced. When I start to spin out, lift off the gas, it corrects and away I go.
But them again I may not be driving at the absolute edge.
I'm also on 225 Rival's. About 8600 miles on them. I am very happy with my current set up. I apart don't want to mod, afraid I will mess up the balance.

That happened to us! Kosei's with 2 metal valve stems per wheel. Ripped it clean out at a local event. All 8 changed immediately to rubber.

Nope, but Ive removed it (trunk junk) on every run Ive ever done. As such, I setup the car with this in mind. I run decent amount of rear toe in

Lesson to the new guys (myself included): When the car starts to come around on you, gently ease off the throttle and countersteer to induce a neutral (4 wheel) slide sideways. Let your tires bleed the speed, and make sure all the weight transfers have settled down. Regain control instead of overcorrecting and cheesing it a second time.
