It is an oil heater. The primary purpose is to get the oil up to temp faster in cold climates; the turbo is oil cooled, and needs proper lubrication.

It functions as both a heater (arguably just as important!) and a coolor - and having it is better than having nothing. I don't think you can disagree with that, Mike.

And the car comes with nothing stock...
In any case, I'd prefer the "OEM" cooler in-line with an air to oil cooler if that makes sense. The problem with coolers is that they are too efficient (see: winter) and this engine already has a cold oil issue as well as a hot oil issue - either a higher temp thermostat, a piece of cardboard, or the two cooler solution I speak of is what I'd be interested in. Or this cooler with a more efficient radiator would also work and be less complex while still providing both adequate cooling and heating. |

OEM sandwich coolers are inside the thermostatic loop (and therefore temperature regulated). The Robispec is *out*side the loop. It's really designed for track. You could, I expect, use it with thermostatic sandwich adapter, but that's not what it comes with (at least last I looked). |

Yeah, 185* is the same as the Mocal - will still be too cold in the winter.
