Thanks. As time approaches, we can coordinate something.

Very excited to be taking part in the inaugural event on March 22... signed up a few days ago, and they said 86CUP entry was nearly full! So contact them ASAP if you are interested.

And anyone interested in just coming to watch is also welcome.

The 86Cup has limited capacities because the participants are running in the same run groups as non 86 drivers/cars. PM me if you have any issues/concerns about the 86Cup entry.

I really want to do this, but won't make the first three dates (3/22 , 4/12 , 4/13).

Is it possible to still have entries for the other dates and be part of this series?

Yes. Only the best 9 out of 12 count anyway. But i know not everyone will run a full season anyway so just make the events when you can. More about fun and tracking together than trophies

Use your availability to track for your benefit. Get familiar with the car and yourself. This is a 9 of 12 events, so 3 will be dropped off.

Let me know when Mike's superhuman driver shows up and runs a 2:04 in a stock 86.

(why on earth are people asking to run the 86 cup in the solo group? Solo group in NCRC basically means you are extremely GREEN, which means you should NOT be doing a cup event)

@CSG_Mike. But not just Mike but the rest of the SoCal group . If I can predict that day, I'll be begging for an all out 86-only session haha.

Solo group: nice point you made. From a safety standpoint, yes, it makes very clear sense that lap times should not be a Solo-driver's focus. However, I've come to realize that some Solo drivers have more track experience and being timed is up their alley. I'm not going to change NCRC's definition and I do very much appreciate their willingness to listen to a driver's feelings and experiences. Hence if a Solo driver feels content to challenge the rules, s/he can contact NCRC directly for personal review. NCRC knows what to look for in a driver and its their discretion to move up or stay the same.

As for the 86Cup, it's a mere transponder usage. It's not door to door racing. No big trophies, no fame, and no monies are to be won here. It's a fun, publicly timed collection and comparison of your FR-S/BRZ within a mod-classification. The AMB Transponder is small trinket of a device used universally to only record lap times - it's not to make any driver better, faster, or smarter. Used in any other way, then the user can be using it for his/her DISadvantage. But as human beings, mother nature instills in us all that in front of anything authoritative (tranponders included), we all act differently and perhaps even leave our comfort zones.

Disallowing the Solo group of transponders, that's fine. A solo driver wanting to see his/her lap times, ok let's find a middle ground so that s/he can be given this info. Even if it's temporary, even if it calls an instructor-passenger. An incentive to come back. Not everyone is meant to be on the track, but everyone is entitled to be given feedback on how they did that day on the track. And your lap times listed could be more easily interpretable than anything else.

My tbought on that would be do not provide solo group with times until end of the day or end of the timed runs. If you dont see them you have no reason to feel the need to push. No reason to see them before but times will tell you if you are improving or not.

Do we have a count of how many 86's are coming to the first event?

How did I miss this.................I instruct with NCRC and always use my Scion FRS..... Typically I run my race car in the race group or open...but I gotta try the stock class in my bone stock FRS.....too much fun....so I will be there 100%.... My shop at Thunderhill is #17, its right next door to the dyno by the skidpad, so come on by and say hi!!! My Scion is red and I might be instructing drivers school on saturday...

I will swing by where most of you guys are parked and check out all the cars... Last year I went out with another member Swkosh20? His car handled SO much better than mine...his upgrade were excellent.... since my car is insanely stock....even with all the ballast (me) he could pull more G's than my car by quite a bit...

I will get there on Friday to work on my car....we always have dinner in the bar at Casa Flores the night before....its easy to spot the car guys

Also for the 2:04 rumor.....Umm NO WAY....impossible....here is my logic....Randy Pobst, pro driver, did a 1:53 in a BRZ at Laguna...laguna tends to be 10 seconds faster than Sears...so say 2:03 at Sears.....and Thunderhill tends to be 10 seconds slower than Sears or 2:13..... I ran a 2:18 at Thunderhill bone stock....so I would say the goal time at Thunderhill for a pure stock car is 2:13 over the top... I run 2:02's in my racer that is 70lbs lighter with 310hp on slicks that pull peaks of 1.9g and constant 1.5g...my stock FRS struggled at 1.15g....
