I imagine the "gearing" would be revised as well as additional internal stuff to handle the torque of the turbo applications, but my main issue with the CVT is the weight. I can't comment on how any of them drive, but whatever trans was in the last Legacy 3.6R I drove (~2010+ MY) was horrid.

My dad just bought one! I can't wait to drive it when I'm back in Texas!

Call me crazy but I think sub 5.5 second cars are too fast to be much fun on the road. You feel the crazy acceleration and speed for a few seconds but then you realize you're going 50 mph over the speed limit and have to slow down again. Around 6 seconds is good enough for me. Good balance between speed and fun IMO.

I can't think of a reason to go for the bigger brother...the STI anymore.

I think the 2015 WRX with Stage 2 Tune + Intake, Catback will pretty much out run anything out there ins Sedan form, even in the corners, that includes the STI

There isn't. There hasn't really been a reason for people who just want to DD their cars to buy a sti over the wrx for a while now. Simply put, you aren't going to race your car so why would things like big brakes, real differentials and a proven power train matter to you? Seriously think about it.

The sti would destroy the wrx on the track. Don't fool yourself. Fooling around on the street for 20 seconds is a different story.

Also this ej motor everyone loves to bash makes an incredibly fun power curve with a downpipe and tune. That's about $500 in parts and an open source flash. You'll see something like +40hp and +75ftlb for $500. I'm curious to see what the fa20dit can do with such simple mods.

You are completely right, a WRX to DD even in the winter is just perfect, together with the 6 speeds...

You shouldn't be testing 0-60 in a 10MPH zone anyway.

I knew somebody would question that. Those two sentences were meant to be separate. My point was that a car that can do 0-60 in under 5.5 seconds is going to get up to like 90 mph very fast. It's like a blur.

Are you kidding ? The way the new WRX with that Torque Dip....it will run out of steam around 70mph, where the STI will just catching up, and continue to accelerate.

Still, 90 MPH is not Jail Time penalty yet. Why would you want to drive at high-speed for ? We have no Auto-Bahn here. But the one thing I can tell you in all my driving Experience is that

In the US, the 0-60 MPH, the Corners, The Chasis feels, the Balances, the Low-end Torque = The Best vehicle.

You can enter Corners Fast....Accelerate out of it...keep Rev-ving to hear the Engine-Music, and slow down, or keep on cruising. This is how the 2015 WRX will be.

But for the WRX to has Passing Power at 65 MPH or High-way speed. It will be lacking....torque Dip.....and it Dip around 300-500 below red-line....I would hate to pass other vehicle with that Dip. This is where the STI will outdone the WRX. Pay attention, the WRX 0-90 is 11 seconds where the STI do 10 seconds. That is the Passing power on the High-Way.

So for the Money Worth ? the 86 wouldn't do that for me. You can learn on the 86, but for the excitement and a few grands differences or the same....I would pull the WRX over the BRZ all day long

Concluded, the STI = better Daily Drive...everywhere, not just on the Back Road like the WRX. But hey....there is no stage 2 tuning for the WRX yet. Though, Subaru feels very confident that if Both STI and WRX get the tunes, the STI will still be on the Upper hand

I agree that it has great passing power. I have an Evo X and the thing is insane for passing. But frankly, it's not very satisfying to drive at lower, normal speeds. My Eclipse GSX is actually more fun with its tiny turbo.
