claying introduces scratches to the car.

you are picking up the contaminants and then dragging them across the car while you clay unless you keep kneading a fresh mound of clay every few inches.

but what do you mean by not being able to polish it? why can't you polish it?

use lots of lubrication. everytime you wash your car you will be putting in fine scratches. it's unavoidable

I don't have a buffer and don't want to break my back.

My plan is to use the light blue clay bar and then put Wolfgang 3.0 sealant on the car.

The reason for using ample amounts of lubricant is to prevent that from happening. When products are used as they are designed to be used, they don't damage your paint or clearcoat.

Yes, you typically fold your claybar every panel or so for fresh clay.

You have a higher chance of introducing microscratches into your paint applying sealant or wax onto a non-prepped (clayed) surface than if you clayed beforehand, using the proper technique. Does that make sense?

Applying sealant can drag contaminants across the paint if they aren't properly removed (using detailer's clay), absolutely moreso than claying using the proper technique.

If you want to go straight to sealant, be my guest. It's your car.

Not sure if trolling...but if you're serious, just take your car to a professional detailer. You've ignored every piece of (correct) info and guidance given to you in this thread.

Given the level of comprehension..OP has a higher chance of removing/scratching the clear coat on his car just by doing a regular wash and dry.

I think he may be referring to a very aggressive detailing bar like Meguiars Red clay bar which may leave some surface marring. Stick to the consumer version and there's no risk of scratching/removing paint.

Generally speaking most detailer's would follow claying with machine polishing because clay is know to leave some level of surface marring, mostly depending on the paint system. Keep that in mind before claying. I'm not saying the car does not need claying mind you, I'm only making your aware not to do more harm than good. Also clay does not remove clear coat in any capacity, its removes bonded contaminates that have settled into the clear coat, that is it.

Size: 25.5 KB you are never going to see any 'micro-scratches' that a clay bar might leave behind on a white car. Wash, dry, clay, prep, seal, done. Bada-Bing.

Well you are supposed to wash your car thoroughly before hand. And your supposed to kneed your clay bar every few sections anyways. You don't clay bar a dirty car like how you don't put lotion on a dirty person...
