This is my impression as well. The chirps are still there but the pitch is a bit different. Third fuel pump and resignation is setting in that this is what it is going to be.

For the life of me I cannot comprehend what is going through some of you peoples minds when clearly it isn't a noise that 100% of the vehicles have based on the poll/thread you are currently browsing. You don't need to be a scientist or a mechanic to see the evidence.

100% have the noise = normal(God forbid they would actually build an engine this way), if one single vehicle doesn't make the noise, then it's abnormal. How much more clear can it be?
You did make a good point there, but the main feature that they have placed onto the BRZ/FR-S/GT 86 is that the engineering allows for a extremely quiet engine. If it is the DI happening, then it is sad that its annoyingly louder then a 4 banger Dodge Neon (Which I used to own but was quieter, and I could not stand that car)

I test drove a BRZ and an FRS and sure they were quiet. What I decided to purchase with my good money was an ordinarily quiet car. Then, tada, its an annoying squeaker! Tough luck for us.

Why do we have to justify this as normal. It's not acceptable. When I see Toyota/Subaru not fixing it after so long. Its a bit insulting. If they don't ever fix this I will eventually trade it for something else and I will bad mouth Toyota/Subaru for the rest of my life. That's all.

Something as insignificant as a noise that a car makes and you're willing to swear off the brand forever?

Imagine what you would've done if you had one of those early 07-08 STIs that had ringland failures due to a poor stock tune. Some engines would pop as early as 500 miles and as late as 60,000.

My car is under scrutiny by my dealership who is hoping that corporate/engineering is working on a real solution.

Just having a bad day I guess. I just wish my BRZ would be perfect. I love my BRZ. I assume the 07-08 STI had all Subaru's attention. I hope.

I should have ended that statement with: There are still 2014 STIs blowing up their #4 ringland, albeit with less frequency than before.

The chirping is definitely not acceptable. It's a design flaw that Toyota/Subaru don't seem to have a solution yet and maybe never will if owners are willing to accept this flaw as normal. I can't understand why people are "justifying" this flaw. The loud chirping takes away from the overall enjoyment and is one of the main reasons why I have not bought one yet.

I didn't realize how loud and irritating this chirping was until I saw this video:

I've had the latest pump revision for a couple months now without any chirping. It's been cold and I haven't run the car hard in a while though. It'll be high 60's and nice out this weekend, so I'll make a couple hard passes on some mountain roads to see if I can coax them out of hiding. Hopefully not.

what tires are you on now? I wanna take off my winter tires now but just a little concerned that may be too early. Have you drive you car in snow on all seasons?

What I think is funny is how people are so concerned with the 20xx model and how much more hp its going to have and whatnot. Really the only concern should be if they fixed or are going to fix these damn crickets. It's totally unacceptable and grounds for selling my car. I love the twins but come on now.

I'd like my crickets fixed, but as long as its not causing any actual mechanical harm it doesn't bother me. I never hear it when driving and only occasionally when at idle because I'm almost always running the a/c with windows closed. Because the air coming through the vents are always a little warm.
Waiting to see if theres a permanent fix.
