Off topic but how much did you spend on your turbo total? Including installation. Do you think prices will drop in a year or two? Curious about going this route in the future

The AVO I got for 4400, there are some sites you can get it for like 3900. Labor and tune depends on who you get it done from. Results may vary...

The price of kits is only going to get more expensive - materials aren't getting any cheaper and labor is pretty static.

I was hoping for some kind of supply demand correction that will happen eventually. Most of the other older mods (intakes exhausts cosmetics) have dropped a bit after being on the market for awhile and newer mods come out.

Never buy a factory turbo car when an NA version is available. You'll just end up paying for two turbo kits by the time you replace all the factory junk. Now if they sold one with a normal garrett turbo and real parts.. That'd be a different story. But they won't. It'll have some IHI pos and a tiny intercooler to replace.

A factory turbo brz would be 35k range

An frs + sc installed at home cost me less than 30

With the miles I drive warranty won't be relevant by next year.

Not to mention ~8.5:1 CR pistons.

I'm on my phone so if I make mistakes, blame Sportsguy83

I've always been the person who goes from NA to FI and never FI out of the dealership, reasoning simply being money. My decision would be based on the specifics of the kit being added, and the differences in the engine. A simple small turbo with lower compression pistons pushing 250whp. I'd of jumped on it for this car. As it would have kept me happy during warranty and usually (base on my past experiences,) allows for less money to be spent in the long game provided insane gains and build isn't in the future.

No present option though.

History lesson
2002- WRX (227hp) after ten years hits our shores
2004- EVO arrives with 295hp. Mitsubishi. Rep is proud, till Subaru Rep points out the 305hp STI. Makes the Mitsubishi Rep cry in public at the Chicago car show.
The Subaru 2.0 is replaced with the 2.5 ONLY in the U.S.A. to meet EPA regs and the need for hp.
Any one of these motors by after market vendors can make 50 to 150 hp more hp for less than $3000.
Bought my 2002WRX for $24000, two years later the STI was $30000 or more.
For $1500 my WRX could have made 270whp(aftermarket mods) over stock 160whp.
Tune on boys and girls!
