Simple question...
Would you rather buy a brzfrs now and FI it and get 350whp or wait for Subaru to potentially make the care and give 300 = ~260-70 whp. Isn't the choice simple? ![]() Any reason why you would'nt do the first? |

They will never make a boosted 86 for public sale. So the choice is simple. Btw 240-250rwhp is closer to 300hp at the flywheel.

On my sig, AVO. I could probably safely make 279rwhp on 7psi with a 91 tune. Right now I'm tuned at 5psi to make 240rwhp.

As long as you know what you are getting into with FI... It is expensive, you are throwing out most of your warranty, and if this is your only car you probably want a backup.
Watch all the Dezoris videos (Savage Geese on YouTube). He does a very good job addressing what going FI costs and entails with these cars and is pretty straightforward about it. And you have to have cash. Cash to pay for all these mods (because you will never get your money back out of all this) and cash to buy a new engine in case you blow yours. |

It would be tempting for me to consider trading my 2013 BRZ if a new BRZ came out with an OEM turbo engine making 300 chp. It would really boil down to price of the new model most likely. If it was still relatively affordable ($30K or below) I would probably trade, even though I like NA engines better. I don't think it would be below $34-35K if Subaru does turbo this car though unfortunately. In the mid-30s or higher cost, I wouldn't trade up.
If I keep my 2013 I will be modifying it for reliable NA power & light weight parts. No FI for me. Way to pricey. Thill is right on (I've extensively modified too many past cars to learn the hard way) with the comments about cost to go FI and reference to Dezoris' videos. |

I agree with this, but also it doesn't have AWD to go through so I would say powertrain loss is closer to 13%. So it fits in your range.

I say it doesn't matter cause option B doesn't exist, nor will it EVER exist.
Buy current FRS/BRZ, spend $5,000 on complete JR SC kit. Spend an additional $1,500 between oil cooler, AFR gauge and possibly a clutch. Install. Tune. 240whp. Done.

Considering Subaru and Toyota won't be factory FI'ing the 86, despite the fervently-believed pipe dreams of others, better to get an 86 now and then FI it.

Well you really can't say they won't release a factory FI version. Tada has pretty much confirmed there will be more power coming and he said they were looking into FI, larger displacement, hybrid, etc.

Seriously. I don't understand all these guys saying "they WON'T" and "they'll NEVER" about a forced induction model. Uh, no. You don't know. The demand for more power is everywhere and being heard loud and clear. It's coming. I think it will be a 2.5L instead of a turbo/supercharger, but it COULD be FI. You really don't know. I would prefer FI, of course....... or a 2.5L AND FI. haha.

There won't be a turbo 86 from factory. BAM, fact.
